Rainbow's Poetry Corner
Handful of Dust and Air
(started Monday, 8/1/94------finished Sat., 8/6/94, about 2 am)

How do you grab
Hold of the stars
When you can't
     coax them into your hand
When they won't stay still
long enough for you to try

Reaching out
                    For something
                    Reaching out
                    And grabbing nothing--
                    But a handful
                         of dust and air

Something is coming my way
What it is I can't exactly say
But I am too eager
And outstretch my fingers
Now, it's gone away

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Timing is ev'rything.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Timing is ev'rything.

I talk to you
But you turn away
Don't you think
What I have to say
Is important to you?

What is wrong with me?
I don't know
And i can't see
Why you drift
away from me.....
.............Across the ocean
             Across the sea
             Into the sky
             You fly away from me...........
                          (fly away from me.........)

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Timing is ev'rything.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Timing is ev'rything.

How do you grab
Hold of the stars
When you can't
     coax them into your hand
When they won't stay still
long enough for you to try

Reaching out
                    For something
                    Reaching out
                    And grabbing nothing--
                    But a handful
                         of dust and air

                    Reaching out
                    For something
                    Reaching out
                    And grabbing nothing--
                    But a handful
                         of dust and air

Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Timing is ev'rything.
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Timing is ev'rything.
