| And so Earth came up, and the Earth went down, and all I could do was dream. - Good day, Rio. Rio looks up and sees David smiling down at her, bright like the Earth. David looks into her fiery green eyes and dares steal a moment he will cherish the whole rest of the day. Rio motions for him to sit beside her on the faux-earthen wall encircling a grove of date palms. David sits down just as Earth passes below the horizon. The soft sound of a sprinkler starts up and the real night sky illuminates the entire sphere with Dian-y-glas, their moon. Just before he turns away, David catches the constellation of Lyra winking at him from the eastern promenade. - Funny how we both keep meeting here, David. The way she says his name disturbs his whole sense of balance and, for some reason he cannot comprehend, he fears she knows what he has been doing (or worse, not doing ) in the Biodome. "Not doing" because David suddenly realizes, or it dawns on him, that if asked he could not rightly explain what he has been doing in words that made sense, even to himself.
