A young girl named Wisp has been transported to the dismal place called Rainbowland. Her mission is to rid Rainbowland of it's darkness and restore all the color.
On her journey she (literally) runs into a cute little sprite named Twink. At first, he hesitates to follow her, but is then forced to when they are chased by a horrible creature.
As they are walking, they stumble across a field full of frozen sprites. Among them, Wisp and Twink find a beautiful horse. Miraculously, the horse defrosts. He tells Wisp and Twink that his name is Starlite and that he is the most magnificent horse in the universe.
As they continue on their way, along with Starlight, they encounter some problems along the way. Tumbling on rocks, un-sturdy bridges, falling into rivers. Every horrible thing that could possibly happen in the gloomy Rainbowland.
Eventually, Wisp finds a baby. With her good heart, she can't bear to leave the child all alone in the middle of a storm. She took the baby to a cave to keep warm for the night.
While in the cave, Wisp finds the color belt.The Color Kids are then shown in bubbles and tell Wisp: "We're the Color Kids, keepers of the enchanted starsprinkles and the sprites mine the Color Caves to help the one who wears the Color Belt make the world brite and ful of color. But the King of Shadows banished us to the seven corners of the world and only the one who earned the right to wear the Color Belt can set us free!"
Wisp keeps her promise and finds each color kid and defeats the evil. The Dark One is now dead. Wisp is now called Rainbow Brite for now and forever. She is in charge of keeping Rainbowland beautiful.Of course we know she'll do an awesome job even if Murky and Lurky are always looking for new ways to make Rainbowland dark again. Evil never wins and most importantly:
