Echoes of Anti-gay sentiments....
Kenya's first President Jomo Kenyatta once claimed that there is no African word for homosexuality. He said this proved that homosexuality was foreign and "totally unAfrican."
1995: President Daniel arap Moi claimed that words like lesbianism and homosexuality do not exist in African language
"Hata hiyo maneno wanayoongea, hatuwezi kusema kwa lugha yetu"
August 14th 1998: Daniel Arap Moi said, "Kenya has no room for homosexuals and lesbians. Homosexuality is against African norms and traditions, and even in religion it is considered a great sin".
September 30 1999: Speaking at an agricultural show former President Daniel Arap Moi said Kenyans should guard against "dangerous practices" such as homosexuality.
"It is not right that a man should go with another man or a woman with another woman. It is against African tradition and Biblical teachings.I will not shy away from warning Kenyans against the dangers of the scourge."
Allan Ragi (Kenya AIDS NGO)
''Men having sex with men is not only common among young people, but fashionable. Just as young men like to wear an earring, they are also opting to try out homosexual practice. It is not just seen as an orientation, but also a fancy lifestyle".

RAINBOW KENYA'S COMMENT: So our sexuality is a fashion commodity? Sexual orientation cannot be compared to a piece of jewellery that one can CHOOSE not to wear. Please remember that there are very real costs to us all when sexual expression is distorted by prejudice and violence.
Michael Kariuki (an accountant with a non-governmental HIV/Aids organisation): "Homosexuals are a menace to society. They should not only be jailed, but the key to the lock should be thrown away."
When asked what he would do if he learned that his son was homosexual, his anger rises:
"I would disown him before I cause him grievous harm. I would rather sire a cow than a homosexual. With a cow you get milk, but what possible good or value would come out of a homosexual?"
Maina Kahindo (Ministry of Health): "Taking into account other modes of transmission of HIV/AIDS, homosexuality is negligible, and should not take up our resources and time. We have other, far more pressing areas which affect the majority of our people and therefore need urgent attention.''

RAINBOW KENYA'S COMMENT: UNAIDS estimates that sex between men accounts for the transmission of at least 5-10 percent of HIV/AIDS cases. Although most sex between men is hidden, surveys show that up to a sixth of all men report having had sex with another man. It is rare for a man to come out of the closet about his sexuality as well as his HIV/AIDS status. The lack of caring and unprejudiced professionals means that  they must go on suffering in silence.
Catholic Bishop of Muranga, Peter Kihara, proudly saying: "Homosexuality is abnormal behaviour which is not discussed in our church. It is not even anywhere in our constitution."

The Daily Nation: Saturday July 26, 2003

First, those who claim to be gay must know that it is not genetic, but merely fascination of the wrong kind. Once you fill that evil mind with better pictures, then that is what will take shape in your life.
I live in the west where gays and lesbians have the right to marry. But what has happened to that society? We now have a rotten people whose minds have moved from the fascination of being gay to incest and paedophilia. Divorce rates are very high. Infidelity is the norm. Do you see why? Because it is all about sitting down and filling your idle mind with the wrong pictures, then your body follows suit. Tell those lesbian women to try filling their minds with pictures of happily married couples - a man, a woman and a smiling child. Then their gay habits will change.
From a Biblical point of view, homosexuality is a curse. So may they live knowing what they are entertaining for the next four generations in their lineage: curses. Soon you will be carrying incurable diseases!
