The poetry performances by sAyla seeds are all about tapping into the interests of audiance participants (or as Augusto Boal put it, the "spectactors") and guiding them on an journey of imagery & reaction.
Some of the activities we can use to contact the poetic experience of listening is by responding to what we heard, saw, felt & remembered. These activities also work well as stand-alone projects.
Ransome Note
supplies:
magazines, newspapers, old throw-away books
large sheets of paper, recyled paper with print
an old typewriter, markers, pens, pencils, glue, tape
scenario:
Pretend you've been kidnapped or you've kidnapped
something or someone. Make a ransom note with cut
out letters and words from print media.
Or compose a poem or word art piece on subject of
your choice with same materials.
analysis:
Looking at children's work, invite their interpretations
of each other's composition. In partners they can
interview each other and then write the companion
police report or news article to their partner's peice.
Discuss kidnapping, danger signs, safety techniques &
the new and existing various methods that are used or
being introduced as protection.
