My Father's Eyes
He has forgotten the face of his Father. He searches blindly in vain in places his Father is not, believing half-truths spoken by mere men. He has allowed himself to be blinded, too steeped in his own sin to care about his salvation. He lies, cheats and steals, mocking the righteous at every step, laughing in the face of honesty. He appears to be happy, but it is only a mask to hide behind, worn for others. Each time he thinks he has found the path to enlightenment, he still aches for more to fulfill him, finding naught. Deep in the far reaches of his mind, he does know what the truth is. But he has pushed it so far and so deep, that he has almost forgotten. Almost. He sees a ray of light piercing the darkness of his soul, allowing the light to expose his transgressions, pleading for forgiveness. He begins to remember his Father's eyes. He sees them looking at him; through him. They are loving and kind. At last, he has remembered his Father's face.
