It is our aim as a church to emulate the early Christian community:
The faithful all lived together and owned everything in common; they sold their goods and possessions and shared out the proceeds among themselves according to what each one needed . . . . they shared their food gladly and generously; they praised God . . . . The whole group of believers was united, heart and soul; no one claimed for his own use anything he had, as everything they owned was held in common . . . . None of their members was ever in want, as all those who owned land or houses would sell them, and bring the money from them . . . . it was then distributed to any members who might be in need . . . (Acts 2:44-47; 4:32, 34-35, JB)
We are working towards being a travelling 'Food Not Bombs" or soup kitchen of sorts; providing vegan and vegetarian food for those poor in pocket, and words of Truth and Love for those poor in spirit.
So the Twelve called a meeting of the disciples and addressed them, "It would not be right for us to neglect the word of God as to give out food; you, brothers, must select from among yourselves seven men of good reputation, filled with the Spirit and with wisdom; we will hand over this duty to them, and continue to devote ourselves to prayer and to the service of the word." (Acts 6:2-4, JB)
If any of the saints are in need you must share with them; and you should make hospitality your special care. (Romans 12:13, JB)
