| Bipolar Order of the Sexes? | |||||||||
| This statement has been used by many literalists, in trying to describe God's position. "Sexuality does matter because the relationship that God designed was one of one man with one woman "no mixing it up" When Christ speaks of the spiritual relationship between God and His elect it is one of a Bride and a Bridegroom. The physical marriage between two people must reflect that while on earth because He has created us male and female. Anything else is a perversion of His Truth." Absolutely not the case, this is not true of what God HAS done. Although it may seem superficially true, there is not a purely bipolar order of the sexes. People have a range of IQ's, a range of colours, a range of sexes, and a range of emotional responses to gender too. By what ever mechanism (evolution, creation or even theory XYZ) people are never 100% male or 100% female. Not even Fred Phelps. All people at some stage of their early development are a generic female, but will possibily change gender to male. There are all sorts of chromosonal disorders that will see this process not happen when it should, or only partially happen. You only need to consider hermaphrodites to see how ambiguous the process can be. The emotional side is even more complex. The doctors rave about the influences of development, genetics, and environmental factors, but Gods process is not a perfect system of yes/no, male/female diatomy. It is no wonder that sexuality can have a rainbow spectrum, people may switch and change throughout their lives, and many do, I suspect without any later admissions, especially as adolescents. I also believe that many heterosexuals, while perhaps never experiencing same sex encounters, might still not be incapable of it. I suspect we have only to consider the power of our sexuality to realise how under it's power we are. How easy would it be to totally abstain? How emotionally capable of same sex are you? If god went Zap! and Percy was gone, how would you deal (via your current emotional equipment) with using your new physical equipment. You probably couldn't. According to literalists you would have gods go-ahead, but you emotional makeup would say "this is not the right stimuli - return (error); or some such cop out. Perfectly unavoidable - but absolutely what you are expecting of others. Literalists dont seem to lift their heads out of the bible to understand how the real world works. We know how it is supposed to be, but look around the world, it's in your face, the reality of gods world is different from the literalists specifications in the bible, but that's OK, it's just the way God works. |
