It seems to me that most of what is discussed in the gay debate is actually not that important and has no bearing on how we should treat queer people. Here are some points that have no relevance.

'Moral Depravity'
For every extreme example of 'homosexual deviance' the right comes up with on this one, there are always two accompanying things. A heterosexual who does it, and a homosexual who doesn't. This kind of floors the entire point. It is impossible to take the acts of a tiny minority and use them to attack the entire group. Particularly when members of the other group do the same.

The Percentage Of Homosexuals In The World
Does this matter? Regardless of whether figures are 10%, 30% 3% or 100%, we are talking about human beings. Those human beings have rights, and part of that is the right to love, without intervention and abuse from the christian right.

Sex Acts
This one only shows up the hypocracy of the heterosexual population (no offence intended to anyone). Again, this is similar to moral depravity. You can't label any sex act 'a gay thing' because you can be guaranteed, somewhere in the world there's a heterosexual couple who love it. Everything from anal sex, to strap ons, all the way up to more extreme (and in my opinion repulsive, but it's none of my business) sex acts like watersports and fisting. People of all sexualities engage in these acts, and they should not be brought up in a debate over homosexuality.

AIDS
This one's obvious. AIDS is not a gay disease. Never has been. This is simply how it's manifested itself in the west due to a more sexually active gay male population. It has however slowed dramatically in the gay population as safe sex information has been widespread. Sadly it's too late for many who lived in the loose and unprotected 70's. One needs only to listen to Bob's stories for proof of how dangerous careless sex can be. But digressing, HIV/AIDS patients come from all walks of life. Some will never die from the disease (which is now listed as chronic rather than terminal), while some don't have long to live. Point is, it's like cancer (though experts now say cancer is more dangerous). It's a disease that people have a right to fight, and have help fighting. It has no relevance to the gay debate.

Any Reference To September 11th
Well duh! Any maniac who thinks homosexuals are responsible for this should have their head examined! However, it's interesting to note that homophobia was responsible for one American man's attempted (or successful? I don't remember) terrorist strike against his own country. He said he was doing God's will because America was tolerant of homosexuals. But I digress. Any intelligent person should realise that blaming any specific terrorist event on homosexuals is pointless and wrong.

CHOICE OR PREDETERMINED

It doesn't really matter in the end, because you're talking about the past. Take a group of eight year old children and I don't think that you could spot which ones are homosexual and which ones are heterosexual (though their attractions will be starting to form at this age). On the other hand, take a group of 25 year olds who are well aware of their sexual feelings and orientation, and it's different. Ask them did they choose it, some (normally heterosexuals) will say yes, others will say no. Some DO choose sexual orientation, usually for political purposes. Most don't. In the end however, their sexuality is set. They are happy with it, it does no harm, and you have no right to try and change it. So IF being gay is a choice, it is in any case not a destructive or bad choice, rendering argument on the subject mute.
