I am Sailor Neptune. A long time ago, I was known as Kaiou Michiru. But
that time has past and is too painful to remember. I guard Crystal Tokyo
with my partner and serve the queen, Neo Queen Serenity.
Haruka was the only one who saw and loved me for the way I am. She saw
through my disguise of perfection. That Haruka is gone and what's left of her
is the warrior of Uranus.
Everyone sees me as perfect, a mere shadow of Sailor Uranus. Why wouldn't
they? I'm talented, elegant, rich, and beautiful. Maybe that's what I want
them to think. ***
I was initiated as a Sailor Senshi when I was eleven. One year
before I heard of Minako-chan's 'Sailor V.' My parents were wealthy and
belonged to high society, always conscious of their image. They made sure my
etiquette was perfect and taught me music and art, trained me to act like a
lady. I was their little china doll for display. I went along with it, it
was easier to act than to resist. After all, I've been acting all my life,
it has become a mask I hide beneath. Rarely has anyone seen my true
emotions. So when I was a senshi, I told all the right lies, feigned the
right emotions at the right moments, and of course no one suspected anything.
My parents enrolled me into an elite private school for girls. I was
popular everywhere I went, school was no different. I didn't really have
friends. Those shallow idiots just cared about their appearances and boys.
I was like that too, before I became a senshi. But now I have more important
things to do, like prevent the Silence. Well, I also tolerated the other
girls too. Elza Gray may have been a friend. She was on the track team. Elza
played an important role in my life, even though I wasn't close to her.
School was too easy. High rankings on nationals and even higher exam scores.
I didn't really care.
Then, one day I met her. Haruka Ten'ou, a rising star in the racing
world. I attended one of Elza's races because she talked me into it. I had
found out that she was my partner through one of my dreams and we became
fast friends. She was reluctant at first, afraid of giving up her normal
life. But then that monster attack changed her mind. She found out that she
loved me, and I loved her back. I was surprised. I didn't think anyone could
love a person like me, always deceiving. She already knew that I wasn't
like I seemed to be and accepted that. People suspected our relationship,
but was never sure, I was partially responsible for that. I had been hiding
my emotions for so long, I couldn't remember how to show them. Also, I have
never loved anyone, I didn't know how to react or what to do. But now that I
have Haruka, I don't think I can lose her again. Whether it's a curse or
blessing, my old habit of hiding comes out again. Being afraid is a sign of
weakness, so I never show how I felt about her.
I reacted the same way to the mission. To drop anything and
everything to fulfill it. Yes, I did feel sorry for the victims who played a
part in it, but I held back. I had to keep reassuring myself and Haruka,
"They are innocent, but sacrifices have to be made for world peace."
We dropped out of our schools. My parents didn't know, I moved out awhile
ago. Haruka and I enrolled ourselves in Mugen Gakuen to investigate the
enemy's headquarters. Then we met those young girls who call themselves the
Sailor Team, with their leader, that Sailor Moon. Haruka thought they were
cute, but they interfered with our strategy and we hated them for it. At
that time, their powers were weak compared to ours. Now I wouldn't dare
insult them, they proved themselves to us. Eventually, we recovered the
Holy Grail and I received my Deep Aqua Mirror. The only future it showed me
was the next enemy.
The mission ended and Haruka and I left with our new daughter and
friend, Hotaru and Setsuna.
Hotaru, or shall I say, Sailor Saturn, was the key to the mission, but now
almost helpless. We decided to raise her until she was back to her previous
age. Six months later, Nephrenia attacked and the rest is history. Until we
were granted our immortality. Then everything else changed.
