Since this morning looked good, I managed to get some time off work and get the plane up flying. The aim of this flight was to do an "out and back" flight of reasonable duration and get some fuel burn figures.
Runway 28 was in use, but I departed from the grass parallel to it - leaving the asphalt to the other aircraft already using it - the Ascender really is happier on grass anyway.
I flew 16 km northwest towards Arnprior in the morning air. There was shear layer aloft and so the air was quick rough for 0900 hours. After a 0.8 hr flight I came back and landed on the grass again. The fuel burn was only 2.5 US gal/hr - which is pretty low. As you can tell the Rotax 503 is not working very hard when the plane is flown solo!
