04 June 2004

Today was a really nice sunny morning so I took the day off and we went flying. Ruth went for her first flight in ZZZ! The wind was light at 0900 but the air was still pretty rough for that time of day. The flight was a short 0.5 hrs - Ruth was cold as the day hadn't warmed up and was just above 10C on the surface.

The trim airspeed was a surprise as the plane accelerated to 50 mph on lift off! With the elevator up it climbed well and airspeed was controllable in the bumps. In level flight the speed was about 50 mph. This gave me the chance to get some good C of G data! It looks like I now know where the C of G should be for solo and dual flight and have amended the Ascender POH I have been writing.

The POH is now completed (at least in a "first edition") and is posted on this website for everyone to have a look at. I thought that ZZZ needed a book to describe it, since there has never been a POH for the Ascenders that I am aware of. The one I have written is specific to this one aircraft.

I did a second flight after installing a trim system in the aircraft. It was hard to tell if I had it was adjusted right as the air was livelier than before. That flight was only a 0.3. Finally we packed up and called it a day.
