~ Outside the Ewok village, a human encampment ~

Luke Skywalked and Han Solo stood next to the Millennium Falcon, waiting for Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca to finish loading it for their next assignment.

"So, you think we can handle this after what we’ve been through?" Han asked Luke.

The young Jedi chuckled. "I don’t know, this is a tough mission."

Lando handed Chewbacca the last crate of supplies and joined his friends. "This is only a scouting mission, how wonderful for heroes like us."

Princess Leia appeared, followed by C-3PO and R2-D2. Han’s smile grew once he saw her, she returned his smile and kissed him. Chewbacca emerged from the ship and growled.

"Alright Chewie, wouldja calm down?" said Han as Lando and Luke entered the Falcon.

"Take Threepio and Artoo with you, they might be of some help." Said Leia.

Han rolled his eyes, He knew she was right, but he couldn’t stand to complaining of one, and it was the only one that could understand Artoo. "You start getting on my nerves Goldenrod, and I’m chuckin’ you out in space"

"Really Captain Solo I—."

"Get on board." Commanded Han.

C-3PO complained to R2-D2 about the rude behavior of humans as he boarded the Falcon.

"Han, be careful."

"Hey, it’s just a scouting mission, what could go wrong?"

Leia hugged him. "I have a bad feeling about this for some reason."

"It’s not like I’m going alone, Luke’s got that Jedi power stuff to help when there’s trouble."

Han gave her one last kiss before boarding the Falcon to begin their mission. He sat in the pilot’s chair next to Chewbacca, Lando and Luke sat behind them.

"Leia worried we’ll fail?" asked Lando.

"Yeah, thinks something bad’s going to happen." Answered Han.

Chewbacca growled as he pushed a few buttons and pulled a lever down. Han finished starting up his star ship, and soon they were watching the stars pass by them.

"So where is it we have to go again?" asked Luke.

"Further than I’ve ever been," said Han, "it’s said to be unknown and untouched."

The clanking of metal on metal was heard as C-3PO made his way to the cockpit. "Master Luke, Artoo has just informed me that we are nearing an asteroid field."

"Nothing like that shows up on my scanners, he must be short circuiting ." said Han, looking at each and every screen on the control panel.

"No wait," said Luke, "Look out there, we are nearing one."

The crew of the Millennium Falcon soon found themselves in the heart of an asteroid field. They tried to navigate through it, but the ship was taking more hits than it could handle.

"Next time Leia tells you something bad is going to happen, believe her." Said Lando.

Han Solo placed his hand on the hyperdrive lever, causing Chewbacca to howl. "I know it’s suicide Chewie but it’s our only chance."

"Sir! You don’t mean---."

"Yes Threepio, we’re going to travel through hyperspace."

Without another word, Han Solo pulled the lever. When they finally came out of it, they were all surprised to find they were still alive.

"Well, now where are we?" asked Luke.

Han checked his scanners. "It seems we have reached out destination."

Lando looked out the window of the cockpit. "Is there a certain planet we have to report about?"

"Seems there’s only one that has life on it," answered Han, "the green and blue one there."

Luke used the power of the Force to see if he could find out anything about the life forms on the planet. "There’s a lot of human life forms, and others I don’t know what they are."

"Is there a place to land down there?" asked Han.

Luke nodded. Han piloted the ship towards the planet as Luke instructed him to the place he found to land. "C’mon Chewie, let’s start work on the damage." He said as he shut down the ship and headed to the exit.

Luke and Lando went with them, as well as C-3PO and R2-D2. They were all amazed at what they saw, simple building unlike anything they ever encountered, but no real sign of life.

"What is this place?" asked Lando.

"Your guess is as good as mine." Replied Luke.

"While we fix the ship, why don’t you two search this place." Suggested Han.

Lando grabbed a blaster, Luke made sure he had his lightsaber, and the two set off to search for some kind of life on this new planet. They found a door and cautiously entered it, Luke then Lando. They walked down the stairs and saw a hallway, which they slowly walked down until they heard voices downstairs.

"You think we should go down there?" whispered Lando.

Luke listened for a moment, then answered, "Yes, maybe they can help us."

"Hey, what’re you’se guys doin’ heah?"

Luke and Lando spun around and saw a young boy with black hair. He wore a loose fitting shirt over pants that were held up by suspenders.

"Our star ship was damaged and we were wondering if there was someone who could help us." Answered Luke.

"A what?"

"Star ship, for space travel."

The boy scratched his head and stared at the two men quizzically. "Did you’se guys escape from the asylum?"

Lando stepped forward, his hand close to his blaster. "What is your name, and can you help us?"

"I’m Racetrack Higgins. May as well learn who ya are b’fore helpin’ you’se wit’ yer whatever-it-is."

"General Lando Calirssian, and this is Luke Skywalker, Jedi knight."

Race hesitantly shook hands with Lando and Luke. "Yeah sure, if ya say so. Well, you may as well meet th’ udder newsies."

He led them downstairs where more boys dressed the same as Race were talking or playing cards. "Dese’re da Manhattan newsies," he turned to the newsies, "guys, dis is Lando, and dat’s Luke."

The newsboys introduced themselves one by one, then began to ask Lando and Luke questions.

"What were ya doin’ hidin’ upstairs?" asked Kid Blink.

"Our ship is up on the roof." Answered Luke.

Race rolled his eyes. "Not dis again."

"Look, if you don’t believe us, come up and see for yourselves." Said Lando.

All at once the newsies stood and rushed upstairs, Luke pushed through then and held the door, explaining that they didn’t want to startle Han Solo and Chewbacca.

"Der’s more?" said Race.

Luke opened the door, ignoring Race’s remark. The newsies stood in shock when their eyes fell upon the Millennium Falcon.

"No Chewie! You put that in the wrong way, take it out!"

"Han! Do you have time to meet some people?" Called Luke.

Han appeared standing on the top of his ship. He climbed down a ladder and stood in front of the group of newsboys. "You’re not kiddin’. Are we standing on a cantina?"

"They say they’re newsies, whatever that is." Answered Lando.

"Yeah, whatever a Jedi is." Stated Race.

"Captain Solo, I just found the main reactors---."

"Don’t tell me about it until I fix what I’m working on now."

"Y’know, dis is really startin’ ta scare me." Said Kid Blink when he saw C-3PO.

"Master Luke you have returned."

"I wasn’t gone long Threepio, is something wrong?"

"Nothing’s ever wrong with him, he just hates to be ignored." Said Han.

Les walked up next to C-3PO and asked, "What’re you, an’ how can ya talk?"

"I am C-3PO, human cyborg relations. I am a protocal droid."

The newsboy turned to Luke. "Mr. Skywalker, what’s a cyborg?"

Luke smiled. "It’s a being who is not human, but can still communicate with us."

"Like what?"

As if to answer, Chewbacca came into view, howling and waving his fists in the air. Les yelped and jumped back, running into the Jedi knight. Luke grabbed him before the boy fell, then said, "Like Chewie, his is a Wookie and just as intelligent as you and me."

"Hey Cowboy, I’d like ta see you’se fight dat like ya do wit’ Oscar ‘n’ Morris." Laughed Mush.

"Alright, take a break. We’ll work on it later." Han said to Chewbacca.

"So yer really from space?" asked Specs.

Han stared at the newsboy. "None of you have been off this planet?"

Every head shook. Han glanced at Luke with wide eyes, the Jedi shrugged.

"Hey, we’re gonna eat, wanna come along?" asked Mush.

Chewbacca grunted and threw down the tools that were in his hands. Han wiped his hands clean of grease as Luke and Lando followed the newsies back downstairs. Les glanced at Luke’s belt and saw his lightsaber. "What’s dat?"

"You will learn in time."

"Does it hafta do wit’ what you’se is?" asked Race.

"It’s a part of it."

They started to leave the lodging house when Jack glanced back at Han and Chewbacca and said, "Y’know, he might scare people ‘cause dey ain’t used ta…whatever he is."

"Well then he’ll be left alone won’t he?" said Han.

The group left the lodging house. Jack couldn’t help but notice is shadow, Les, was sticking close to Luke Skywalker and asking him questions non-stop. A feeling came over him, one he never had before but knew what it was, jealousy.

"So what’s yer name an’ how’d ya meet da barber’s paradise?" Race asked Han.

"Han Solo, and Chewie’s been a good friend since I saved him way back when I was a smuggler and gambler."

"Whoa, yer a gambler?"

"Not so much anymore. When I get the chance, sometimes I take it."

Race smiled and rubbed his hands together, scheming of ways to get Han Solo to come with him to the tracks.

People on the streets wouldn’t have paid any mind to the newsies and their companions if it weren’t for Chewbacca. They stopped and stared, even pointed fingers, but they didn’t want to cause any trouble to the group in fear of angering the hairy beast.

"Here’s Tibby’s Diner, the only place we kin afford." Said Kid Blink.

"Will our federation credits work here?" asked Lando.

"You don’t have money? How’re you gonna pay fer dinner?" asked Specs.

"Don’t worry, things will work out." Said Luke as they entered the diner.

They all sat down, the newsies ordered for the newcomers because they didn’t know what to get. When the food came, the newsies began to eat, but the others just stared at what was set before them.

"What is it?" asked Lando.

"It’s a hotdog." Answered Dutchy.

Chewbacca picked his up and sniffed it, he took a bite, then gobbled the rest at once. Snipeshooter watched with great interest, looked at his hotdog, and tried to do the same only to start choking.

"Hey there, don’t try to be a Wookie all at once." Said Han as he thumped the newsboy on the back.

Bumlets and Les listened as Luke explained the ways of a Jedi to them.

"Yer called a knight but ‘cha don’t ride a horse ‘r’ sword fight---."

"We fight only the Dark side of the Force." Stated Luke, interrupting Bumlets.

"What’s the Force?" asked Les.

"The only way you can know that is to want to be a Jedi."

The waiter came to the table asking for money to pay for the meal. "That’s ten cents please."

"I only have Federation credits." Said Luke.

"I’m sorry Sir, that won’t work."

Luke barely waved his hand in front of his and said, "Credits will work."

The waiter blinked and repeated, "Credits will work."

Luke counted out a few credits and handed then to the waiter. He walked away, then stopped like he just realized what happened.

"How’d you do dat?" asked an amazed Les.

"It’s a Jedi mind trick, something you could learn if you wanted to be a Jedi." Answered Luke.

Jack walked up to them. "How come you can’t teach yer tricks ta Les here?"

"He’s already said why Cowboy." Said Bumlets.

"I can sense your feelings Jack," said Luke, "jealousy can lead to the Dark side."

"Yeah, whatever."

Han stood, followed by Chewbacca and Snipeshooter. "Luke, we’re goin’ back to repair the ship. Snipeshooter’s coming along too."

"Alright, see you there."

Dutchy looked over at Lando and asked, "Where’re you’se guys from anyway?"

"We are currently living on Endor since that is where our last battle was." Answered the general.

"How’s it possible ta not know der’s life in space an’ dey haven’t visited us before?" asked Boots.

"That’s something we can’t answer." Replied Luke.

Jack rolled his eyes. "I’ve had enough a dis. I’m goin’ ta see Sarah."

As he left, the diner became silent until Les finally asked, "What’s with him?"

Luke stood. "I think its a good time to learn more about this Manhattan."

Bumlets and Les jumped up at the same time and said, "We’ll show ya."

The Jedi turned to Lando and asked, "Are you going to stay here?"

"For now yes."

Luke nodded then left the diner with Les and Bumlets. Racetrack sat next to Lando and said, "I hear Han’s a gambler."

"I guess you could call him that."

"Turns out I do a little gambling myself."

The newsies burst out laughing. "Yeah, but yer only good at losin’." Said Boots.

Lando smiled. "Sounds like me. The ship we came in used to be mine until I lost it to Han."

"So he’s pretty lucky?" asked Race eagerly.

"How long you’se guys stayin’?" asked Kid Blink, hoping to change the subject.

Lando looked around the table and simply replied, "Until we get the information we came for."

Snipeshoooter watched intently as Chewbacca and Han tried to fix the Falcon.

"OK Chewie, punch it!"

The Wookie flipped a switch, when nothing happened he started to growl, scaring Snipeshooter.

"Chewie, calm down, you’re scaring the kid."

Snipeshooter walked out from under the boarding ramp. "I ain’t scared’ve him."

Han chuckled. "Yeah right. If you knew what he could do to you, you’d never come out from under there."

The newsboy put his hands in his pockets and stuck close to Han as he looked to see what Chewbacca did wrong. "Well no wonder, you switched these two."

"An’ what about dat thing?" It’s just hangin’ out der." Asked Snipeshooter, pointing to a lever.

Han glanced over at the boy then the lever. "You sure you’ve never done this before?"

Snipeshooter nodded. Han fixed the problem, including the one the newsboy found, then flipped the switch. There was a buzz, then the Falcon roared to life. Han whooped and thumped Snipeshooter on the back, knocking him to the ground.

"Captain Solo, there is still major damage to the---."

"Quiet Threepio. There’s other stuff to get done first."

"I must say, I’m only trying to help." Said the droid as he creaked back into the ship.

"He’s as annoyin’ as Davey." Commented Snipeshooter.

"Then I don’t want to meet him. One is too many." Said Han.

"No kiddin’."

Chewbacca went up the ramp into the ship, soon his growls could be heard, followed by beeps and squawks.

"What’s that fuzzball yelling at Artoo for this time?" Han asked himself as he quickly entered the ship, Snipeshooter following close behind.

"You crazy Wookie, he’s only doing what he was programmed to do." Said C-3PO.

"What’s going on here?" demanded Han.

Chewbacca growled and grunted while pointing to Artoo. Han crossed his harms and replied, "For once I agree with the droid. Artoo has to find where all the damage is in order for us to fix it and leave."

Snipeshooter tugged at Han’s sleeve. "You’se just got here."

"Look kid, we’re here on a mission, as soon as we’re done we have to go."

Chewbacca made a soft sound while looking at Snipeshooter. Han sighed and said, "That would be great Chewie, but I don’t think it’s possible."

"What?"

"You coming with us."

Bumlets decided to tell Luke what knights were like, the ones he always read about.

"Sounds like a Jedi, they seem to fight for the same reasons as a Jedi and everything."

"What’s it take ta become a Jedi knight?" asked Les.

"It takes training, the only way to learn is to want to be a Jedi." Answered Luke.

"What kind’ve weapons do ya have?"

"There is only one, and you have seen it."

Bumlets and Les started to pretend sword fight, showing off their skills, when Oscar and Morris stepped in their path.

"So, who’s yer friend?" asked Morris.

Luke’s hand went to his lightsaber as Oscar and Morris taunted the two newsies to fight.

"Yer not tough enough ta walk without an adult?" said Oscar.

Luke spoke up. "You’ll let us pass."

"Why not use yer mind trick?" suggested Bumlets.

"Yeah, use yer mind trick." Laughed Morris.

Luke knew there was too much hate in the two of them for the mind trick to work. As the brothers started for Bumlets and Les, Luke pulled out his lightsaber, the green blade flickering inches from Oscar and Morris’ face.

"You will let is pass." he repeated.

The brothers glanced at each other with wide eyes, and nodded. "Yeah, we’re just leavin’." Said Oscar.

They quickly got out of the way, running as far away as they could.

"Dat was great!" exclaimed Les.

"Yer weapon’s bettah den any sword." Said Bumlets.

Luke clipped his lightsaber back onto his belt. He began to walk the street once again when Bumlets and Les stopped him.

"Da more we see of dis Jedi stuff we’re more interested in becomin’ one." Explained Bumlets.

Luke looked at the two boys and heaved a sigh. "There isn’t enough time to train the both of you."

"We could go wit’ you’se when ya leave, der’s nothin’ fer us heah."

"You have a family here Les, how would they feel if you left?"

Bumlets and Les looked around, thinking of something to say. Luke smiled and said, "I want you to really think about this before you decide you want to become a Jedi."

"It’s lookin’ bettah den da life of a newsie." Said Les.

"Take my advice, think about it, because the life of a Jedi is forever."

They came to the lodging house and found that everyone had returned as well.

"How’s the repairs on the Falcon coming?" Luke asked Han.

"Master Luke, I tried to tell him the damages but he wouldn’t listen."

Chewbacca growled at Threepio. Han laughed as he told Luke about Snipeshooter helping to fix the Falcon, the newsboy grinning from ear to ear.

"At least his day’s goin’ good." Mumbled Race.

"I told you, I’ve never been to a race like that, only pod racing." Said Lando.

Jack stormed in at that moment, on his entering the room became silent. He glared at Luke then stomped upstairs. The newsies were embarrassed by their leader’s behavior towards the newcomers, they were afraid their visitors would leave sooner than they wanted them to.

"Must be having girl trouble or something, I’d be the same way." Said Han.

"You were when you first met Leia." Said Luke.

"We’d love ta talk more, but we gotta be someplace soon." Said Mush.

"Where’s that?" asked Lando.

"Irving Hall. Medda’s got a dance goin’ on tonight." Answered Dutchy.

The newsies stood. They asked Han, Chewbacca, Lando, and Luke to join them, but they refused. The group seemed disappointed, but understood as they left for an evening of fun.

"How is it a whole planet of humans is unknown to us?" asked Lando.

"I have no knowledge of this planet or any of the others we saw." Said Threepio.

Luke sat down next to Chewbacca and sighed. "We just met these newsies and I don’t want to leave them. They’re like family to me already."

"How can that be? I felt the same way while working with Snipeshooter today." Said Han, Chewbacca grunting in agreement.

"We have to return no matter what," said Lando, "but maybe they could return with us."

Luke leaned forward and buried his head in his hands. "Maybe it was a bad idea to come here."

"Look, let’s worry about leaving them with the time comes." Said Han as he went upstairs to work on the ship.

A Powerful Ally
Kloppman didn’t have to wake the newsies as he always did early in the morning, they were already up and ready.

"Hey, we should see Luke ‘n’ those guys before we go ta woik." Said Skittery.

Jack rolled his eyes. "Why waste time on them?"

Mush pushed Jack against the wall. "How come ya hate Luke so much? Is it ‘cause Les is interested in him?"

"Yer makin’ us look bad Cowboy." Said Bumlets.

Jack pushed his way through the newsies and stomped out of the lodging house. The newsies couldn’t believe the attitude of their leader, it made them wonder if there was something he was keeping from them that had to do with their new friends.

"Maybe Lando ‘n’ Luke could come with us ‘cause I’m sure Han ‘n’ Chewbacca wanna work on der ship." Said Specs.

There were footsteps heard from the hall, and soon Luke entered the bunk room. "Lando and I have to research more of this place, the culture and everything, so we were wondering if we could join you in what you do."

The newsies laughed. "We were just gonna ask ya to join us." Explained Snoddy.

Luke smiled as he followed the newsies downstairs and out of the lodging house. He noticed Lando wasn’t with the group so he returned to the lodging house and saw him talking to Kloppman. "Are you coming with us?"

"Turns out Kloppman here was part of a war, I’m gonna learn what I can about it."

Luke nodded as he returned to the group of newsboys. They walked to The World distribution center and waited in line to get their papers.

"Is der a way you can find out what’s eatin’ Cowboy?" asked Bumlets.

"Young Les has always thought of him as a hero hasn’t he?"

Bumlets nodded.

"Then once we arrive, that changes. What Jack doesn’t know is Les still thinks of him as a hero, he’s just curious about the new life that has appeared."

"Could dis all change if Les just told Jack?"

Luke nodded. "It’s possible, but that’s something he has to do on his own."

Bumlets went to buy his papers, Luke standing next to him, when Oscar and Morris backed away. Weasel stared at them and asked, "What’s your problem?"

"Dat guy, he’s some kind of wizard." Answered Oscar.

Weasel looked at Luke for a long time then said, "He looks ordinary to me."

Bumlets and Luke glanced at each other and smiled as they moved along so the others could buy their papers. Racetrack came up to them and asked Luke, "Hey, can yer whatever thing let ya see da future?"

"Yes, why?"

Race grinned. "How ‘bout I show ya da tracks? It’s a great place ta learn about."

"You want me to help you win money don’t you?"

Race stepped back as if he were shocked. "Me? Cheat? Dat’s not somethin’ I do."

The newsies laughed out loud. Race looked around him then slowly walked away, he should have known he couldn’t fool the newsies. Jack appeared suddenly and walked right up to Luke Skywalker. "I got dis ta say to you. Stay away from Les, he don’t need you fillin’ his head with ideas of becomin’ a knight of some kind."

"He must choose his own path, no one can choose it for him."

"Jack, what if ya became a Jedi? It sounds great, I’ve thought about it an’ I think dat’s what I wanna do with my life." said Bumlets

Jack walked away to buy his papers, then quickly left. Everyone stared, not believing what they just saw.

"He’s really actin’ strange." Commented Kid Blink.

"Soon he won’t be the way he is now." Said Luke.

The newsies went out into the streets of Manhattan and began their day of selling newspapers to the people.

"Alright kid, flip the switch on the right."

Snipeshooter did as Han told him to, and lights glowed throughout the ship. "Is dat what’s supposed to happen?"

Han smiled. "Yeah kid. Now we just have one more thing to really worry about, and she’s fixed."

"An’ den yer leavin’ fer good?"

Han’s smile faded. "Yeah, guess so."

Snipeshooter walked up next to R2-D2 and put a hand on the droids dome head. Artoo beeped and whirred. Han Solo sighed and shook his head as he said, "Look, it’d be great if you could come with us, but your life is here."

"I don’t have a life here. I’m an orphan an’ I’ve been livin’ off the streets fer years."

Chewbacca grunted as he tapped Han. "I know Chewie, we need to finish the ship."

Snipeshooter suddenly had a great idea. "What if I was yer ship fixer-upper?"

"We call them mechanics."

"Yeah, what if I was one of them fer you?"

Han and Chewbacca looked at each other then at the newsboy. "Are you sure you want to do that?"

Snipeshooter nodded. "It’d be great! Then I’d be doin’ somethin’ different besides sellin’ papes."

Han stood and walked out of the Millennium Falcon. "I’ll have to talk to Luke and see if that’s what should be done."

The newsboy smiled widely as he tapped Artoo’s dome. He couldn’t picture himself anywhere else but at Han’s side, fixing the Falcon. That was the life he was meant to have.

"I’m tellin’ ya Spot, these guys are from another part of space, ya gotta meet ‘em."

"Jack, how come yer treatin’ dem nasty, but yer all excited about ‘em bein’ here?"

Jack shrugged. "I don’t want to seem too excited, I gotta look cool."

"From what I’ve heard, you look like a dork."

Jack lit a cigarette. "Look, I’m tryin’ ta get Luke to show his Jedi tricks in public, and if I taunt him enough, I’ll make it happen."

"How can you do that if he can read yer mind?" asked Spot.

"He thinks I’m mad Les isn’t at my side, I heard him say so."

Spot rolled his eyes as he stood and left the Brooklyn docks. Jack walked with him into Manhattan and soon they saw Luke Skywalker with Bumlets and Les.

"He looks normal enough, not like some kind of Jedi, whatever those are." Said Spot.

Jack nudged him. "Watch dis."

He walked up the trio, said something to Luke then pushed him. Bumlets and Les grabbed him and wrestled him down to the ground, pinning him down and yelling at him. Spot wondered what the exchange of words was as he strolled up to the scene, he looked down at Jack and said, "Oh yeah, yer plan ta get dis guy ta show his powers went real good."

He then turned and shook hands with Luke, introducing himself to the Jedi. Luke helped Jack up and said, "The power of a Jedi is not to be used for show, they are to be used against the Dark Side."

Jack’s eyes went wide. "You knew all along what I was gonna do?"

Luke nodded. "I knew you were listening to Bumlets when he asked me about you, so I made something up."

Bumlets, Spot, and Les burst out laughing. Jack turned to them and glared, then started laughing along with them. Luke put a hand on his shoulder and said, "I’m glad the charade is finally over."

The group walked the streets, telling Luke about the life of Manhattan, how it could be pleasant and hectic at the same time. They came to the lodging house when Luke stopped them.

"What is it?" asked Spot.

"Someone is in there looking for Jack, if we go in, he will be sent somewhere."

Jack rushed to the alley. "Quick, over heah."

They followed him as Jack went up the fire escape onto the roof, surprised by the Falcon because the newsies were still not used to it being there. They entered the ship and found Han at the controls, checking to make sure they worked, Chewbacca closing up a compartment, Snipeshooter helping Threepio out of some wires, and Artoo rocking back and forth, whistling.

"Hey Luke, I’ve got something to ask you."

"It’ll have to wait. Where can we hide Jack?"

Han became puzzled, but showed them a hiding spot under the floorboards. Jack jumped in just as the other newsies came into the ship.

"Snyder was just here." Said Crutchy.

"He says if we don’t deliver Jack then we’re all goin’ to The Refuge." Finished Swifty.

"A jail fer kids." Explained Bumlets.

Han and Luke stared at each other then told the newsies to stay on the ship as they went outside.

"We’ve gotta help them." Said Han.

"I know, but the only way to do that is if we take them with us."

"I meant to tell you, Snipeshooter wants to come with us, he says he’d rather do this than sell papers."

"And Bumlets said he wanted to become a Jedi." Said Luke.

Lando appeared on the roof and said, "Here’s what we can do. Take them with for a while, then give them the choice of staying with us or coming back here. That way we are helping them live what they think is better for them."

Luke nodded, pointed to Lando and said, "That’s a good idea. Get the newsies and get them into the Falcon."

Lando did a quick salute then went back into the lodging house. Luke watched Han as he quickly checked the exterior of his ship. "Do you think we can take all these boys in this ship?"

"I’m sure she’ll hold." Answered Han as he entered the ship.

Soon the newsies were crammed into the Millennium Falcon along with Lando, Luke, Han, Chewbacca, and the two droids. Han sat in the pilots chair and began to start up the ship.

"Dis is gonna be great!" said Racetrack.

"No kiddin’! We’re gonna see space." Replied Kid Blink.

The newsies started talking about what they were going to do when they landed on their friends home planet, little did they know it was a moon they were going to.

"Alright everyone, get ready, we’re takin’ off!" Han called out to the newsies."

There was a jolt and some bumps before they took off for the stars. Luke went to the back and explained to the newsboys that they had to be still because if they moved too much it could make the ship move around and throw them off course. Before he could tell them to get ready for the jump to hyperspace, they were pushed back by some unknown force.

"What’s goin’ one?" exclaimed Snoddy.

"We’re traveling through hyperspace, nothing to worry about." Answered Luke.

There was a sudden jolt, then the ship slowed suddenly, causing the newsies to fall forward. Han came to the back and talked with the newsies for a while, explaining that he didn’t have to pilot the ship because Chewbacca was at the controls.

"So you’se guys do this kind of thing all the time? Travel through space?" asked Boots.

"Yeah, all the time."

"How long ‘til we get to dis Endor?" asked Swifty.

"Not much longer, traveling through hyperspace helped make the trip faster."

Soon Chewbacca was heard over the comlink, and Han went to the cockpit. They all waited to land and rushed for the ramp to exit the ship and see a new world. They stepped out and were disappointed to see a forest, until they saw some fuzzy creatures around them.

"Are those cyborgs?" asked Les.

"Those are Ewoks. Their village is close to our encampment." Answered Luke.

Leia came out from her tent and rushed to her companions, hugging Luke tight and kissing Han. The newsies watched with interest as she said, "Oh I’m so glad to see you alive, I feared the worst had happened."

Luke took her aside and told her about their adventure as Race chuckled and said to Han, "She’s quite pretty."

Han looked at him an said, "And she’s mine."

Race’s smile faded. "Yeah, I meant that."

"Luke, we can’t take care of all these people, we don’t have room." Said Leia.

"We have to. They helped us, and now we have to return the favor."

She looked over and the group of newsboys as they looked upon their new surroundings. "What have you gotten yourselves into?"

"Leia, we are a powerful ally to them, as they are for us. The more they learn about us, the more we learn about them."
