If You're Gentle
by Araina
Marajade was only a kitten. No more than six or seven weeks. She was playful, kinda shy and extremely stubborn. She always figured that no one could resist her. So if someone was annoyed with her, eventually they would quietly accept her. No fuss, no complaints. They would just accept her. Marajade thought thats how it would be with all cats.

Anyway, on with the story.  Marajade had her sights set on her idea of the prefect tom: Aroaran. He wasnt full grown but not her age either. He was probably fifteen weeks at the time. She thought he was the best cat ever. Tall for his age. He was a calico with silver, black, white, and gold splotches. Rather odd actually, but Marajade loved him to no end.

She was always hinting and watching Aroaran, hoping that he would notice her.

Almost every time he looked at a pile of trash, he would see Marajades jade green eyes peeking out at him. When she knew he had spotted her, Marajade would race off giggling like a maniac.

As she became more out-going, Marajade started to hang out with Aroaran and flirt with him.

"Hey, Aroaran," she said one day as she flirted. "whatch doin tonight?"

She pranced around him, batting her eyes and making him trip over her.

"Nothing that would involve you, Marajade," Aroaran answered coldly.

She sat down and pouted and Aroaran stalked away, not caring that hed hurt her feelings.

This continued till Marajade was twelve weeks old. Every time she flirted, Aroaran would crush her hopes and stalk off.

One day she went too far trying to get him to notice and like her.

"Ya wanna play, Aroaran?"

"No Marajade. Im going to sleep."

"Mind if I stay?"

"Yes."

Marajade ignored this and settled down next to him.

"What did I just say Marajade?" he growled.

"Oh, you didnt mean that," she purred.

"Yes I did. Now go away."

Once again she ignored him and snuggled closer.

"Marajade!" he finally roared. He stood up very quickly making her fall painfully on her side. "Go away. I dont want you here."

She ignored this as much as possible and settled herself down to rest.

Aroaran was now getting really frustrated now.

"Marajade! Leave me alone!"

"I dont want to leave," Marajade said stubbornly.

After several minutes of fighting with Marajade, one thought ran through Aroarans head: "Hurt her."

He growled angrily and leaped at her. Marajade let out a high pitched mew of pain as Aroaran landed pinning her on her back.

"Aroaran!" she cried.

"Shut up!" he snarled.
