Depots and Bus Stations in South Mumbai

•  Colaba Depot: Also known as Electric House, this is one of the oldest depots. Buses that pass by Electric house are 1, 2L, 3, 6L, 9, 11L, 22L, 43, 44, 70, 83, 103, 106, 123, 124, 125, 132, 133 and 137. Some of the buses that park here are 103, 132 and 133.

• Back bay Depot: It is situated in the reclamated area known as Back bay, just south of Cuffe Parade. The special buses (S1, S2, S8 and S9) park here. The buses that go to Back bay Depot are 7L, 15, 25L, 86, 121 and 138.

• Colaba Bus Station: Often mistaken with Colaba Depot, Colaba Bus Station is situated further south of Colaba Depot. The buses that terminate here are 1, 9, 11L, 43, 44, 70, 83, 124, 132 and 133.

• Dr. Shyamprasad Mukherji Chowk: More popularly known as Museum, Dr. SPM Chowk is a busy bus junction as well as bus station. It is situated north of Colaba Depot. The buses that pass by Dr. SPM Chowk are 1, 2L, 3, 6L, 7L, 9, 11L, 14, 22L, 43, 44, 65, 69, 70, 83, 86, 103, 106, 108, 122, 123, 124, 125, 130, 132 and 137. The buses that terminate here are 65, 69, 122 and 130.

• Mantralaya: Sometimes used as an alternative to Back bay Depot, Mantralaya on its own is also a very important Bus Station is South Mumbai. It is situated just a two minutes walk away from Marine Drive. The buses that terminate here are 5, 8E, 45, 81L, 82, 87L, 88, 89, 92L, 93L and 126.

• Hutatma Chowk: Hutatma Chowk is an important junction from where buses diverge and go northwards either towards CST along DN Road, Metro on MG Road or towards Churchgate. Southwards, the buses go either towards Mantralaya or towards Colaba. the buses that pass by here are 1, 4L, 5, 8E, 9, 10, 14, 15, 22L, 25L, 38, 62, 65, 69, 81L, 83, 84L, 85, 86, 87L, 88, 101, 103, 122, 132, 133, 124, 126, 132, 138, A1 (AC) and A4 (AC).

• Ballard Pier: Ballard Pier Bus Station is located near the Docks on the Eastern side of Mumbai. Buses that terminate here include 66, 68, 71 and 122.

• Ferry Wharf: Situated at Mazagaon, also at the docks, north of Ballard Pier, Ferry Wharf Bus Station is used as terminal for many west to east buses in south Mumbai. Buses that terminate here include 41, 42, 46, 48, 50 and 135.

• Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST): Popularly known just as VT (Victoria Terminus), CST is an important bus junction, bus station and railway station. There is a special lane only for buses leading to CST from Mantralaya during peak hours. Buses that pass by CST are 1, 4L, 6L, 7L, 8E, 9, 14, 22L, 25L, 28, 45, 61, 65, 66, 68, 69, 71, 81L, 101, 103, 124, 126, 138, S1 and S2. CST is sometimes used as and alternative Bus Station to Mantralaya, Ballard Pier and Back bay.

• Churchgate (Ahilyabai Holkar Chowk): Being the starting railway station to the Western Railway as CST is to the Central Railway, Churchgate too has a lot of buses passing by, but is not that important a bus station. The buses that terminate here are 132 Extra (to Colaba) 122 Extra (to Ballard Pier), S8 and S9.

• Kamla Nehru Park: Situated on Malabar Hill, this bus station is located in a a very green and quiet area. The buses that terminate here are 42, 103, 105, 106 and 108.

• Walkeshwar: Used as an alternative to Kamla Nehru Park for long haul buses, the buses that terminate here are 57, 67, 80L and 101.

• Central Depot: One of the three depots in South Mumbai, Central Depot is a very big depot and has the capacity to hold lots of buses. Some of the buses that park here include 123, 135 and 155. It is situated near Mumbai Central Railway Terminus, and hence the name. Buses that terminate here include 91L, 153, 166, 351 and 357. 

• Vasantrao Naik Chowk (Tardeo): Situated on the other side of the railway tracks to Central Depot, VN Chowk is used usually used as an alternativee to Central Depot. The buses that terminate at this Bus Station are 123, 302, 385 and 521L.

Other bus stations in South Mumbai are Navy Nagar, RC Church, NCPA, Babulnath, J Mehta Marg, Grant Road and Vijay Vallabh Chowk (Pydhunee)
