Mini Trip To Carstairs
Saturday 13th April 2002
....as does Gary!!!
Grant waits for something to move....
Off two of us headed to Carstairs to photo 55019 on the 'Silver Jubilee' railtour from Edinburgh.Arriving at 3 o'clock,50 minutes before it was due,we found we were only the second there after expecting it to be quite busy. The other chap was on a pile of ballast with two tripods and he vanished suddenly, either being told to move or falling down the back!!
We had to wait a good 45 minutes before something moved,in the form of 37609 dragging 37610,which had just been named 'The Malcolm Group',from Glasgow Works to Kingmoor(Below).
Next up was the the big blue beast a.k.a 55019 looking spotless with 12 blue and grey Mark 1s from the BN96 set five minutes late at 15:55(Below),chucking out plenty of clag as it pulled away from the curve!
The next thing of interest was 47783 on a charter from Edinburgh to Stevenage,as with the Deltic, chucking out plenty of clag and thrashing away!!(below)
After leaving Float Viaduct we headed for the station where 47776 was stabled for thunderbird duties(below)
All in all not bad for an hour and a half!!
