family and background: the first time we see toguro and his brother in the series is during yusuke's mission to save the captured yukina. yusuke and kuwabara fought the toguro brothers and won.(they think they win but they dont know that...yet...) toguro works for sakyo, but to me he makes it look like he works for tarukane, sakyo is part of the orginization that started the black martial arts tournament. during the tournament we learn that (well i didnt know that until i read it here) toguro is actually human and that he owned a dojo and taught pupils. but a powerful youkai came and destroyed everything but toguro. the youkai left toguro in grief and misery. in the finals of the tournament he defeated the youkai and wished to be a youkai himself (which to me was a stupid mistake) so that he could be immortal and be strong forever. during the dark tournament it is revealed that he and genkai once fought as a team but then she disgraced him when he "sold his soul." tis unclear but i am certain that they were once in fact lovers and still remain to care deply about one another although they hide it very well.
toguro has an older brother (ani or aniki) who can alter his body into whatever shape. when the two fight together, he'll transform into whatever shape his younger brother wishes.(i.e: a sword or armour). they form a good team but have different perspectives. ototo still has some sense of honor and respect for his opponents (as said when tarukane asked him to kill one of tarukane's beasts and at first it looked as if toguro was going to refuse but then he said something like "its my job although i dont kill unless i have to." the before he kills the beast he apologises for doing so and tries to kill it painlessly.). yet his brother seems to still be a ruthless killer. i'm assuming that aniki was once human (afterall they are brothers) but he too decided to be a youkai and i also assume that he fought as a teammate with toguro (afterall he's most everywhere toguro is and most the time we see him perched on his shouler)
special abilities: ototo has the ability to raise his power at will, but after 100% it becomes more challenging and we discover that in order to sustain this form he must kill to get their spirits to feed his body and keep his power. by raising his power he also enlarges his muscles...which i think is an awesome feature...although after 100% his form gets a little crazy and he loses his "cute"apperance. he relies on muscular strength to aid him in combat. his last form is 120% which was during his fight against yusuke...he passed over his limits and eventually died after losing to yusuke.
special features: his sunglasses (to which i'm guessing they're there to keep his kai under control cuz with maost demons i.e:karasu, they have some sort of object to keep their energy controled until needed.) and last but not least his muscualr body.
personality: at a first apperance hes shown to us that hes the typical bad guy with no mercy and hes a ruthless killer. but at the end of the tournament hes let us know more about his "tough guy" appereance. we've been shown that hes not such a bad guy and that there is still some good in him. and who couldn't blame him?! hes never really healed from the pain, guilt and misery from thi incident to which his pupils were killed. the reason he chose the path of a youkai (by selling his soul to the darkness) was because he didnt want to be weak, but most of all he has never forgiven himself for the death of his pupils. which goes to show you there is more than meets the eye. in the end he even chose to go to the cruelest part of hell to punish himself over and over again. despite the fact that genkai called him a fool for his stubbornness, he has been through a lot and has lost the inner battle between himself.
after he killed genkai he asked koenma to preserve her body because he knew that the urameshi team would want to bring her back. also he was waiting for someone who would be able to beat him and prove his own wrong, someone who fought for another reason than his, which was to be the strongest forever. on that journey to find that someone he met bui and karasu who both lost to ototo/aniki and thus became their "servants" if you will and their teammates. yusuke admired toguros strength and wanted to be just as strong if not stronger than toguro. due to genkais death and last words, yusuke knew he had to fight for his loved ones and teammates:he was not alone. and so toguro's story ends here with that he died in peace, because he finally someone who proved his wrong.
i didnt put ani's bio up here because its mostly the same and due to the fact that i have no clue what to type *ani: oh gee thanks Kyo...i feel loved...and here you were complaining that i don't get enough respect yet you don't take the time to do my bio!* oh but you don't get enough respect you deserve, and yes you are love *glomps ani* but due to the fact that you and ototo are almost the same save for your attacks and background i decided not....*geroff me Kyo....i can't breathe* oops sorry hehe *lets go* and besides...i'm too lazy... *ani: anime fall*
