[Scenes of the competition flash through. Hiei's fight and Mukuro's offer to him, all overlaid by Hiei siting on the window sill of Kurama's room while the ningen does his homework.]

Still remember the night we met
You said you loved my smile

[fades to scene of young Kurama teasing Hiei happily. Hiei slams his fist into the boys stomach.]

But your love for me was like a summer breeze
Oh it lasted for a while

[Camera zoom's to Hiei's eyes and a thousand memories of him and Kurama together swirl through the red depths, all colored red until they melt like blood into nothing.]

I could hold on a little tighter I know
But when you really love someone, you gotta let them go

[Kurama standing by the window as Hiei tells him that he is leaving. The red head's back stiffens as if he has been struck but when he turns around his face is smiling as usual.]

So I'm gonna smile,
Cause I wanna make you happy

[Zoom out from seeing Hiei's worried expression done in the green tones of Kurama's eyes, to the ningen's pale face. Kurama says something and grins a very foxy grin. Hiei grunts.]

Laugh
so you can't see me cry

[As he chuckles we watch Kurama wipe away tears supposedly of mirth. Hiei watches him carefully]

I'm gonna let you go in style

[Kurama stands at the window and watches Hiei blur into the darkness of the night. He is still smiling, but it's more stiffly now.]

and even if it kills me
I'm gonna smile

[The camera moves closer and we see how forced the smile really is. One perfect tear falls over his white cheek and the camera follows it to the floor, as it splashes there, the scene fades and changes.]

kiss me once for the good times baby
kiss me twice for goodbye.

[Hiei is sitting outside of Kurama's highschool, up in a tree, looking at the reflection in his sword. It blurs and shifts and we see a fox form Kurama licking Hiei on the nose then running away. We pan around from the image to see Hiei raise a hand to his nose. The school bell rings and the shot follows Hiei's gaze to the group surrounding Minamino Shuuichi.]

You can't help how you don't feel
and it doesn't matter why.

[Hopelessness flashes in Hiei's face and he leaves quickly, missing Kurama's hopeful glance toward the Koorime's favorite tree.]

Give me a chance to bow out gracefully,
cause that's how I want you to remember me

[The whole group is gathered around the portal to bid Hiei goodbye. As they all wish him luck, he scans the group for the fox.]

I'm gonna smile,
Cause I wanna make you happy,

[He finds him standing against a tree, watching him with a soft smile. Hiei wipes away a tear with one quick motion, unwilling to let the ningen around him see his weakness]

Laugh

[Kurama asked him something but Hiei just grinned and replied, 'hn.']

so you can't see me cry

[When Hiei looks away for a moment, Kurama's eyes mist over and he quickly wipes the pain away.]

I'm gonna let you go in style

 ['Hn, goodbye fox']

and even if it kills me
I'm gonna smile

['Goodbye. Hiei.' The minute the portal closed Kurama dashes away into the woods. The camera circles from his retreat to his friends worried faces.]

I'm gonna smile
so you can find the courage

[Hiei stands in Mukuro's throne room he is saying something to her, His whole body is tense. She nod's and he blurs away. Mukuro watches him go with a motherly smile.]

Laugh
so you wont see me hurting

[cut to Kurama helping Yuusuke with his homework. Yuusuke stands to leave and Kurama shuts the door behind him then sits on his bed and twirls a black rose between his fingers.]

I'm gonna let you go in style

[Hiei is blurring through the ningen streets toward Kurama's house.]

and even if it kills me

[Kurama uses his ki to shape the rose into a dagger and pressed it to his wrist, cutting deeply up the vein, blood splatters on the note he held. Hiei comes in just in time to see him fall and we see his eyes go wide as he catches the fox. He forces himself to smile, unwilling to let a frown be the last thing Kurama sees, but the fox is already gone. Hiei's eyes catch on the paper, camera circles from his shocked face to the blood and tear covered note. It say's 'Hiei, aishiteru' tear gems plink on the floor and the camera zooms in on Kurama's face. He is smiling]

I'm gonna smile

[scene zooms out and fades.]
