<Part 1>

The Shore Shack was packed! Twister worked the grill double time and Teeto and Ray were up to their ears in orders. Tourist season was always bad, but this was the first time Twister'd been working the shack for it.

He had just started at the beginning of the summer. Trying to earn enough money for a car and just for fun. He figured now that he was going into High School, he should have his own income, not just his allowance. Besides, His and Otto's two year anniversary was July 3rd and he wanted to get his lover something really special, to show how much he meant to him.

"Hey Twister." Reggie grinned and sat down at the counter with Sam and the object of his thoughts.

    "Hey guys."

Otto leaned forward, "Can we get three vanilla shake's?"

    "Sure man."

"So Twister, how's the working class life going?" Sam asked with a grin.

"Busy man! But it'll be worth it."

Reggie took the shake's from him and passed them out, "What are you saving for anyway?"

    He grinned, "Mm, just stuff."

    "Stuff?"

"Yeah, you know, stuff. Things. Stuff like that."

The oldest Rocket child shook her head, "Twister; never change bro."

"Wouldn't my clothes start to smell?"

"Twister! We need you on the grill!"

    Sam smiled, "Well, good luck."

    "Hey, I need no luck!"

    "Twister!"

    "Eep!"

    Reggie grinned and waved.

Otto smiled at him after the other's left and they were the only two people in the world. "I'll come see you when you get off work ok?"

Twisted nodded, "We can do some night surfing."

    "Among other things."

"Yeah." Twister leaned forward a little and breathed out the word.

A spatula cliped him on the head and Ray cleared his throat, "You can talk to Otto when you get off work. Come on. We have a double order of the party combo."

Twister grinned, "Sorry 'bout that." He squeezed Otto's hand, "See ya."

"Yeah." The youngest Rocket smiled dreamily and jumped when Sam and Reggie called for him.

    "Wanna hit Mad Town?"

    "Yeah sure."

Sam frowned, "It isn't the same without Twister."

"Tell me about it! We don't get in half as much trouble."

Otto looked back toward the shack, "We don't laugh as much either."

"Maybe 'we' should think about getting jobs." Sam suggested, "I mean we 'are' going to be High Schoolers. We'll need cars and stuff right? And it'd be cool to have some extra cash."

    Otto nodded absently. "Maybe."

"Well what are we waiting for then?" Reggie asked, "Come on, let's go job hunting."

Otto licked his lips and slipped away from the group. He hadn't told any of them, but he had a job. Stuffing envelopes. It was an in home thing so he could do it whenever, and it payed like a hundred and twenty dollars a week! He needed the money. //Our two year anniversary is in a week! I want to make it really special.//

He pulled the boxes from under his bed and began folding and stuffing, //Dude, he's gonna be so surprised!//

Twister hung up his apron and paper hat and doned his trademark cap. Done. Finally! Outside the back door Otto was waiting with their boards. "Hey."

"Hey." The darker boy smiled and kissed his lover quickly before anyone could see them. "Ready to catch some waves?"

    "Been ready all day bro!"

They laughed and played and managed a little surfing before sneaking back to Twister's place. His brother was at a boarding school for the summer and his parents had gone on their second honeymoon, leaving the whole house to them for two weeks starting that day.

"Your family has great timing." Otto grinned and stretched out on the couch, pulling Twister down to rest his head on his lap.

"Yeah. Gotta do something nice ta thank them."

"So what do you wanna watch?"

    "You?"

Otto leaned down over Twister to capture his mouth softly.

    "Otto. . ."

"Shh. We have all night. Let's just stay like this for a while."

"You're getting all mushy on me again."

    "So?"

    "Thanks. I like that."

    "Tease."

    "Thank you."

Otto closed his arms around his lover and sighed. Everything was perfect.
_______________

Everything was falling apart right before his eyes! Otto couldn't breath! His heart beat was all over the place! He couldn't believe what he was hearing! "Say that again?"

"Dude! Teeto just told me at work today! Ke'onee is coming for another visit! Isn't that awesome?! We haven't seen him in like, years!"

"We saw him at the surf meet 3 months ago."

"Man! That's like 2 dog years!"

The older boy had to smile. Twister always made him smile, and laugh. . . and moan, and scream and. . . //woah Rocket boy!// "So you're really looking forward to Ke'onee huh?"

"Yeah! He's our bro man! A little version of Teeto!"

Otto felt like crying. Screaming. Locking Twister up and keeping him just for himself. Ke'onee had stolen the family surf trophy from him. The surf meet championship medal too, and now. . . //what if he steals Twister? Dude I'd be broken without Twister!//

"Aren't you happy he's coming Otto?"

    "Huh? Oh. Sure."

    Twister looked confused, "Otto?"

    "Huh?"

"Are you mad at me or something? Do you want me to stop sneaking over here?"

"No! Never Twist! I was just thinking."

    "Oh."

Otto held his lover tight and burried his face in the pale, strong cords of his shoulders. He'd been embarrased when Twister'd asked him about . . . guy stuff. But after they'd touched that first night, and held eachother in the afterglow of their first time, he'd felt like he was home. Twister just felt right. They hadn't told anyone though, and that meant Otto had no public claim on his beloved, and Ke'onee wouldn't know who his Twist belonged to.

"You're all silent tonight. What's wrong?"

"Twist. . . have you ever thought about telling people?"

"About Ke'onee? Yeah, All told. Everyone he knows, knows."

    "I didn't mean about Ke'onee."

"Huh?" A light seemed to go on behind the young man's eyes and his mouth fell open, "Oh!"

    "Well?"

"I didn't think you wanted anyone to know."

Otto bit his lip, "Well it's kinda a gamble, you know, will they accept us. . . but you're MINE Twist! I want everyone to know that!"

The latino boy pulled back and looked at Otto carefully, "You want Ke'onee to know."

"That's not it! I. . ." He looked away in shame. He felt like a heel after hearing how stupid his thought sounded out loud.

"You don't trust me around Ke'onee. I can't believe you man."

"I just don't want him to steal you from me."

Twister pulled away and slammed his cap down on his head, "That's harsh dude. If you think anyone could change my mind about how I feel about 'us' then you Never had me. You don't Trust me. I'm gone man."

Otto was on his feet in an instant and leaning out the window Twister'd exited, "Twist! Please man! Don't DO this!"

"YOU did this Otto. I think you need to decide if your 'my lifes better than yours' thing you have going with Ke'onee is worth forgetting what we have. 'k?" Twister frowned saddly, "I don't wanna have to choose between my friends and my lover."

"Twister! Dude I love you! Please!"

Golden eyes flickered up at his, full of tears and anger, "Rocket boy, you don't even know me if you think I could ever do something that harsh to you."

Otto Rocket watched his lover walk away and clentched his fists and teeth. "I am such a spaz!"

<Part 2>

Ray was at attention the second Otto came into the kitchen the next morning. "You look trashed rocket boy! What happened?"

"Nothing." He sat down and poked at his dinner then sighed.

"Nothing huh? Looks like a really big nothing." The elder rocket sat beside his son, "This wouldn't happen to have anything to do with Ke'onee coming to visit, would it?"

"Huh? Why would it have anything to do with HIM?"

"Maybe because you just spazzed when I said 'his' name?"

"It isn't him dad. I did something to someone and . . . I was really harsh. I lo. . . ike, I like this person and now they aren't talking to me and I think I screwed everything up."

Ray Rocket smiled his 'I'm your father and you're being  so cute by thinking I didn't see this before' smile. "You had a fight with Twister huh?"

"Twist?! I don't know what you're talking about, I mean me an' Maurice Rodrigues?!"

"A wise man said, 'I think he protests too much.'" Ray clasped Otto's shoulder, "Rocket boy, I've known about you and Twister for a year now. You two aren't very discrete."

"A year?! And you didn't say anything?!"

"Teeto and I were having fun watching you try to act 'not-together' in public."

    "Teeto knows too?!"

Otto, you practically melt everytime he smiles and you bristle when anyone other than Sam and Reggie get close. You almost kissed him in front of the whole shack the other day."

"Sam! Reggie! Dad they don't know do they? Tell me they don't know!"

"They don't know." He rolled his eyes, "But they will if you kill Keeone over this."

"I 'know' I was wrong ok? Twister would never do something like that ok? I KNOW! I just. . . he was so mad."

"I get the feeling I'm not hearing everything."

Otto kept his head down and hair in his eyes but the plink of tears on his jeans gave him away. "I . . . Our two year anniversary is coming up and I was. . . We've been. . . I was going to give him a ring."

    "OTTO!!! YOU'RE IN 9TH GRADE!!!"

"Not 'That' kind of ring. just. . . I wanted to show him that he was the only one I. . ."

    "'Like'?"

    "Yeah."

"And you paniced when you heard Ke'onee was going to be here because. . ."

    "I trust Twister. I don't trust Ke'onee."

    "Why is that?"

"Daaaaad! He was all Over Twist last time he. . ."

    "Otto."

    "Yeah."

"Not everybody thinks Twister is an ideal boyfriend. You're probably the only one who has or will 'ever; think of him like that. Maurice isn't exactly. . . uh. . . boyfriend material."

    "What do you mean."

Ray swallowed hard, Otto's glare told him to back up and do it quick. "He's the boy next door type. Young girls and guys don't really go for the down home uh. . . kind."

    "But he isn't 'just' that."

"But not everyone knows him enough to know that."

"So how do I apologise for being a total spaz?"

"Have you tried just saying you're sorry?"

    "Uh. . . no."

    "Well then?"

    "Dad, I. . . uh. . . I gotta go."

"He's working the shack this morning."

Otto grinned and gave his dad a thumbs up. "See ya."

After the door shut Ray Rocket gave a long suffering sigh. "Kids."

_______________

"Twist!" Otto jumped off his skateboard and almost slammed right into Teeto.

    "Whoa little cuz!"

"Teeto where's Twister?! I need to talk to him like now!"

    "What's the rush little Rocket?"

    "I. . ."

The Hawian smiled the same kind of smile his dad had. "Ah so 'that's' why the little cuz called in this morning." He turned and put the glass he had been washing up on the shelf.

    "He what?"

"He's taking a sick day." Teeto tuned around and Otto was gone. "Good luck little cuz. You're gonna need it."

Otto pounded on Twister's door, "Twist! Maurice! Please open up! I need to talk to you dude!"

He hadn't expected Lars to wrench open the door and glare death at him, "What do 'you' want."

"I need to talk to Twister!"

"You've done enough already Rocket. I don't know what you said to him but he's been alone in his room all day. I may be a jerk to him sometimes but he's still my baby brother."

    "I want to apologised ok?!"

    "Maybe you aren't welcome here."

"I just . . ." Otto looked into the house and saw Twister coming down stairs, "Twister!"

The mexican boy looked up in shock, "Otto?! Lars what . . ."

"He was just leaving Maurice." Lars dropped the rocket boy and glarred, "Say goodbye."

"Wait!" Twister nugged passed Lars and faced Otto on his own. "I got it Lars. I'm fine."

"If you hurt him. . ."

    "Lars!"

Otto looked at Twister hopefully, "Twist."

    "You wanted something?"

"I wanted you." Otto bit his lip, "I always want you."

    "You hurt me."

"I didn't mean it like that! I trust you. I know better than to think you'd cheat, but it's just. . . you're the world to me Twist. My whole world. Someday you'll realise that I'm the only person you've been with and you'll leave and I'll die!"

"I know what we have Otto." Twisted said it so softly the other boy almost  missed it. "I love you. It isn't something that goes away."

    "Dude, I'm jealous ok?"

Twister smiled a little, "Over me?"

    "Well you're Twister!"

    "But you're Otto!"

"So that make you both loco." Lars pulled them both inside and shut the door, "Well, go to your room and kiss an' make up ok? Just don't do it were I can see you."

Twister hugged his brother quickly and pulled Otto upstairs behind him, "Thanks."

"Yeah yeah." He watched them shut Twister's door and smiled, "Way to go bro."
