C&C please
Yuusuke flopped down onto his bed and closed is eyes in an exhausted manor. He was so tired! It had been his idea to try to get Hiei and Kurama to admit they loved eachother, but he was ready to call it quits! After the party it had looked so promising but now that Hiei was working with Mukuro and Kurama with Yomi, training for the tournament, they were further apart than ever! Even literally! He and Kuwabara had begun training too, but not as dilligently as the demons they were sure.
Kuwabara. That was the other thing bothering him. The goofy once-gang leader was beginning to give him feelings much more deep than friendship, and he was almost sure they weren't mutual. Keiko had even noticed! She was pushing him to say something but Yuusuke was wary of losing his best friend for something as trivial as lust, or even love. When he was with Kuwabara he was happier. They were so in tune to each other that they could finish each other's sentances and predict each other's movements.
Love was a hot and tense feeling and if returned it would be heaven, but he wouldn't risk what he already had for an uncertainty.
"Urameshi!"
The deep voice broke and Yuusuke chuckled as he walked to the front door. Kuwabara was huge, but he'd only just hit puberty when he turned 16 and his voice was constantly squeeking, especially when he yeld, which was most of the time. "Hey. What're you doing here?"
"My sister has friends over."
"So?"
"She kicked me out." He blushed, "They were. . . uh. . . reeeeeally friendly guys, you know?"
The leader of the Tantai snickered. "Hai, come on in, you can sleep over. //Yes!//
"Arigato." He walked inside and looked around, "Where's your mom?"
"Probably at some bar. When is she ever 'not' at some bar." He shrugged, "I was just gonna heat up dinner."
"Huh? She cooked this time?"
Yuusuke held up to microwave dinners and grinned.
"Oh." Kuwabara glanced at them, "I call the beef."
"Great cause you aren't getting the chicken." the other boy grinned and tossed them in the oven so both could heat at the same time. "Wanna watch a movie?"
"Hai! How about Star Gate?"
"You watch that way too much."
"I like it!"
"Sure, you just think Daniel looks sexy in fatigues."
"Eechi! I'm gonna. . ."
*Ping*
"Hold on, the dinners are done." Yuusuke left Kuwabara to blush over his statement and tranfered their dinners to plates. He tried not to think about the way Kuwabara had balked at the thought of finding another male cute. He tried not to think about anything. If he didn't think then he wouldn't hurt so much. //liar.//
"Hey Urameshi! Do you decide to cook after all or are you just being like a turtle?" Kuwabara laughed and Yuusuke quickly took their food out and tossed his friend a soda-pop.
"You shouldn't be in such a hurry to taste my cooking." He grinned, "It's been known to eat the eater on occasion."
Kuwabara waved his hand in dissmissal, "ma ma, you can't fool me. You work in a ramen shop which means you know how to cook just fine."
"Well, don't say I didn't warn you. Guess you'll have to try it and see."
"We can't let this go to waste though." The large red head grinned and began to dig into his food. With his mouth partially full he finished his thought. "I guess you'll have to cook for me tomorrow night then."
The darker boy blinked and stared at his friend carefully, //Did he just ask me on a date? He couldn't have. . . but did he. . . no, he's just wants free food. That's all.// "baaaaaka! You think I'm gonna just do what you say?"
Kuwabara looked up sharply, shock all over his face. "Huh?"
//Shit, he really didn't mean anything by it.// "Sorry. Long day."
The other boy nodded and reclined over his side of the couch lazily, "You didn't 'do' anything today. What's wrong with you?"
"I'm just jumpy."
"Over Hiei and Kurama? Don't worry, the shrimp will admit it sooner or later."
"Or later or later."
"The great Kuwabara will be vicotrious!"
"The great Kuwabara huh? So I had no part in it then?"
"You can be my sidekick."
"Oh yeah?"
Kuwabara snickered, "Yuusuke the small."
The indeed smaller boy launched himself at his friend and a wrestling match soon turned the room inside out. Finally both boys collapsed against oen another laughing loudly and grinning ear to ear.
"You know what Yuusuke?"
"Hm?" He yawned, not bothering to move from where he sat, back to back with his partner.
"You are my best friend."
He grinned, "Never saw that one coming did we."
"Guess not."
Yuusuke grunted as he pulled himself up and offered the red head his hand, "You're really quiet today."
"I just feel, thoughtful."
"About what?"
"Things." He sat back on the couch and pushed play on the movie, "Just things."
Yuusuke settled in the watch the show but kept stealing quick glances at the unusually silent redhead. Finally it was too much to listen to the quiet between them, "What things?"
"Huh?"
"What things do you feel thoughtful about?"
"Well. . ."
"Hai?"
"I have this friend, he likes another guy."
"Oh?"
"Is there something wrong with that? I mean it isn't natural and . . ."
"I guess it depends on why they want eachother."
"nani?"
"Well like, if they just lust after eachother then it might not be right. But if they love each other and want to love each other forever. . . maybe that's ok."
"But it's his best friend and he doesn't know if his friend feels the same way. He asked me advice. . . how should I know?! I don't want to ruin their friendship and tear apart my gang becuase I'm wrong about this."
Yuusuke relaxed a little, even though his heart was mourning. It wasn't him. Kuwabara was actually talking about a real friend of his. //Leave it to Kuwabara to use the oldest smoke screen in the book and actually mean it.//
"Well?"
"I guess they both need to decide if it's worth it."
"Have you ever had feelings like that? For a guy I mean?"
"Maybe."
"When I first saw you together I thought you had
feelings for Hiei or Kurama."
"WHAT?!"
"You were always looking at them and talking about them. How was I suposed to know you were just playing matchmaker?!"
"You thought. . ."
"Actually you and Hiei would probably make a good couple."
"Nani?!?!"
"Well he's a shrimpy little tough guy and you're a big softy."
"Who's calling who a softy here mister kitten boy?"
Kuwabara blinked and blushed, "So I like cats, so what?"
"I think it goes way past like. You're just a softy."
"No way!"
"You'd drool over petting anything with kitten ears and a tail."
"Put some on and we'll see if I. . . uh. . . that didn't sound right."
Yuusuke stared at him, "Kuwabara?"
"I. . . that is I ment to . . . I didn't. . ."
"I'm going to say something, but you have to promise me we'll still be friends."
"Hai. Of course!"
Before he could stop to think about it, Yuusuke surged
forward and locked his lips to Kuwabara's tightly.
