Feedback is craved like a man lost in the desert craves water. <//_^)>
<Part 1>
The battery sparks, turning the motor over. A consciousness is revived. Image projector lens flutters at an enormous rate. There is light. Electric pulses traverse the airwaves to a mother computer. The light gains substance and depth. More sparks, conscious feeds memory into computer. The light takes shape of a young boy with wild brown hair. A half breed Prays to all of the God's he knows. The man of light opens his eyes. Sparks jump down through the sound chip and project to the mouth of the image. It speaks.
"Duo."
"Heero! Don't you ever scare me like that again! Do you know what I went through watching you light fade out?!"
"It was logical Duo. This way no one knows my soul is alive. A borg's body is easy to make."
"Not here on the street it isn't! And why didn't you tell me what you were planning?! I thought I lost you! I couldn't stand to lose you! Don't you see?!" He caught himself and began to cry, all of the tension of the past weeks building up inside of him and pouring forth.
The image knelt beside him but the touches offered only a tiny artificial heat. The lack of substance made Duo cry harder. "I do not understand human logic. I thought what I did was right for the mission."
"Life isn't a damn mission you dumb Borg! Life is just life! You live it, you don't plan it! It just happens!"
"I've upset you."
"DAMN STRAIT!!"
The image wavered a bit then touched him again, "Do you wish to hit me?"
"Heero, I hate to remind you of this, but you have no BODY!"
"Oh? I thought you liked my figure."
Duo froze and gave him an incredulous look, "Heero did you just make a joke?"
"I think that is what they are called."
He starred.
"Have I finally found a way to shut you up?"
That snapped Duo out of it, "Let's get you a body and I'll show you some much more interesting ways of doing it."
Heero's hologram nodded, all humor gone. "So how will we get a body for me?"
"The only place that has he capacity to manufacture Borg bodies is J's lab."
"Then we go to J's lab."
"But how? I don't know my way around there."
Heero nodded, "But I do."
"What do you have in mind."
Heero shrugged, "It's more what _you_ will have in mind."
Duo didn't really like the sound of that.
Souls of Lead
<Part 2>
Quatre looked at his friend like he was out of his mind, "You want me to WHAT?!"
The breed held out Heero's chip and gave a hopeful look, "I need you to put Heero's chip into my main frame as the slave drive so that he can help me infiltrate J's lab and build him a new body."
The little arabian paused a moment then glanced at the braided boy, "You are mad do you realize that? This is beyond madness! How do you expect to. . .?"
"Q-man."
He stopped and looked up as Duo clasped both his hands.
"If Trowa's body was destroyed, but you had a chance to get him back, wouldn't you do anything to help him?"
"But we. . ."
"I am not complete without Heero Quatre. I feel so empty. It's like a part of my soul is gone. You are the only person I would trust to do this. Please."
"I. . ."
"Please."
Trowa watched his lover's resolve falter and nodded, "I'll get your tools."
The human glared at his Cyborg counterpart, "You don't have to be so accepting you know."
________________________________
A light came through the darkness and Heero reached for it, feeling the connections present he locked into them and pulled himself out into the new vessel he found himself in. *Duo?*
*I'm here*
*Am I. . . *
*It worked Heero. You are inside of me*
Heero looked up at Quatre through Duo's eyes, "Mission Accomplished."
"Hello Heero." Quatre closed up Duo's port and nodded, "You're in, but you had better keep him safe."
"I would rather tear out my soul than cause him any grief."
"I am glad you feel that way."
Duo grinned maniacally and hugged himself. "Heero! I missed you!"
Trowa looked at Quatre who looked back at him. Both were together in their observations, this was very odd.
"I missed you too Duo."
"So let's get going!"
"Hn."
"Duo?" Quatre begged.
"Huh?"
"Could you talk bionically to Heero, it is discerning watching you hold a conversation with yourself."
"No problem Q-man!" He held up his victory sign. "We have to go get Hee-chan a body now." He struck a silly pose and lowered his voice playfully, "I'll be back."
Quatre collapsed to the sofa as he swaggered out the door. "I feel like Frankenstien. Have I made a monster?"
Trowa shook his head, "But Duo might."
"Allah."

Duo slipped quietly along the path Heero outlined.
*Ok, left here. Careful, there's a guard.*
Duo hurried forward and gave Heero a mental hug, "We're almost there Heero, we'll get you a new body." Duo whispered. "It'll look just like the old one, I'm sure I can do it."
*Get to the lab before you start planning hair color's baka."
Duo gave a grin and nodded. From there on they made fast work of the security alarms and found themselves in the lab with no trouble, but once there. . . "It's empty!"
"Hello Maxwell. Or should I say Heero? We've been expecting you."
The Breed looked round him. *Only twenty Heero, we can take them.*
They moved closer and Duo saw the back row that had been hidden. "Ok, maybe not." He tried to run but Heero shut down his nero processor. He couldn't move. "Heero! Heero?!"
"Mission Accomplished."
Duo's heart fell like it shattered! He screamed as they disconnected his consciousness wires "NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!" Then there was nothing.
<Part 3>
When Duo woke up he was strapped to a very cold metal table and a very familiar face was looking down at him. "Heero?" His voice sounded so helpless Duo almost cursed.
Heero just looked down at him, no emotion visible in his crystal eyes.
"Heero."
"Ah!" J smiled, "I see our guest has finally awakened."
Duo spat in the doctor's face, "Go sit on your dad's dick!"
"Such a fowl mouth. Maybe it should be altered first. What do you think Heero, shall I remove his vocal chords?"
"You enjoy hearing them scream." Heero stated in a dead voice.
"True, very true." The doctor thought a moment. "Acid will be a nice start."
After he walked out of the lab Duo turned to Heero helplessly. "Heero."
The Cyborg didn't answer.
"Hee-chan say something!"
"My name is 001."
Tears spilt over Duo's cheeks, "Heero. . . no. No! You aren't like this! This isn't you! What happened to you?! Where's my angel?!"
"He was malfunctional. Viruses are deleted."
"NO!" He fought the bonds with renewed strength, "Leave his soul alone!"
". . ."
"Heero! I know you hear me! Heero get your butt out of hiding and DO SOMETHING!!"
The Cyborg blinked and looked down at the thrashing boy, "The master will not appreciate these outbursts."
"The 'Master' can fuck a dead skunk!"
"Is that possible?"
The softening of the tone stopped Duo from moving, "Heero?"
"My name is. . ."
He sighed, "I know I know 001 and the master will have a hissy if I hurt his lab table." Duo grumped and glared at the metal man above him, "I like you better as a homicidal assassin."
". . ."
"Don't you remember anything Hee-chan?"
". . ."
"You bought me this jacket, remember? I kissed you for it. And you stood up for me when the comic store guy tried to kick me out."
". . ."
"You stopped Relena when she was sent for you. Remember? You gave me the chip that held your soul."
". . ."
"001! Where did I place that phosphoric acid?!"
"Second shelf beside the sulfuric acetates."
"Hm. . . oh yes! I remember."
Duo closed his eyes as J's steps retreated. He was going to die. "Heero. Please don't leave when he starts to hurt me."
"I obey my maker."
"You're more than this." Duo bit his lip. "You're better than a thousand Js."
The door began to open and Duo clenched his fists and readied himself, "I love you Heero." He whispered before he shut down his nervous system. At least now he would die painlessly.
"This should do the trick nicely." J smiled and sat the jar beside the Breed. Before he could open in the door chimed. "Distractions! Distractions! 001 watch him."
Duo let out the breath he had been holding and blinked at the jar, reactivating his nerves he reached for it.
"Stop."
Duo's eyes shot to Heero, "He said to watch me." He said quickly, appealing to the super on task mind of the machine.
"Yes."
"He didn't say to stop me."
Heero blinked but didn't move and Duo smashed the acid jar on the side of the table, the stuff burning through the cuff and part of his cybernetic hand.
"That was stupid." Heero deadpanned.
Duo panted from his labors and the sting of acid on his bionic nerves and glared at his former beloved. "You had a better idea?"
". . ."
He pried open the locks on his other arm and leg and jumped from the table, "Right, now. . ."
"Stop." 001 insisted, "I was ordered to watch you."
"So come on, watch me break outta here!"
He followed the violet eyed boy, not finding fault with his logic.
Duo hopped the fence and grinned, "You have Heero's memories still right?"
"Correct."
"Remember those cases of C4 we planted breaking inside?"
Before the Cyborg could answer Duo slammed his fist down on a hidden wire.
A second passed peacefully.
Then the base exploded into a brilliant show of fire and lights.
"So long J." Duo glared, wiping the tears from his eyes, "See you in Hell."
"Your eyes are leaking."
That only made the breed cry harder.
A soft hand touched his cheek and the startled breed looked up, "H. . . heero?"
". . . duo. . ." The light faded and the Borg stood stiff and still, waiting for Duo to move so he could follow him.
Duo really wanted to hit something, but instead he headed for Quatre's. His friend *had* to know how to fix Heero. He just *had* too!
<Part 4>
The first thing that Quatre did was hug Duo so tight he could have crushed him! Secondly he slapped him for making them all worry so much, then he gasped at the mutilated remains of the bionics that had once been Duo's humanoid hand. He quickly handed him into Trowa's safe keeping. "What can we do?! Trowa can you fix this?"
"Don't worry about me!" Duo snatched his injured appendage back with a growl, "Help Heero! Quatre you've gotta! Please! J shut down his soul but it's still inside him, I know it is! I caught a flash of it but it died! Quatre please!"
The blonde's gaze shot to Heero and he frowned, almost scowled, at the Cyborg, "You are the reason Duo got caught."
"My programming was anticipated to have fault, a fail safe was included in my central drive to take over in case of importance."
"Is Duo's Heero still in there?"
"Glitch is irremovable. Safety blocks are holding strong. Malfunction unlikely."
Duo's eyes were so full of pain Quatre wanted to kill the Borg before them, but he stayed his anger, for Duo's sake, and reached out his presence into Heero's mind.
The rerouting program was there right before him the moment he reached out for Heero's being. A thick wall of cybernetics and currents of hot electricity. In all truth Quatre doubted that he could break through, but Duo. . . He reprogrammed his image in Heero's chips to resemble Duo and the barrier shuddered before him at his touch, but stayed standing. //Heero? Heero can you hear me?//
The answer was weak but full of emotion. //Is Duo all right?//
//He's worried about you. Misses you. But he isn't harmed physically, and he knows it wasn't your fault.//
//I can't reach him. Tell him that I love him? Please? And that I am sorry.//
//He knows. We need to get you out of here.//
//I can't.//
Quatre deleted the updates to Heero's perception chips and pulled back to be confronted by Duo's hopeful eyes. "He's in there."
"I knew it! I knew it!" Duo grinned.
"But he thinks that he can't get out, thinking that way he wont have a chance. We need to force him to act."
"How?"
The human shook his head ruefully, "I have no idea."
<Part 5>
Trowa spoke softly as he repaired the cybernetics Duo had destroyed on the breed's arm, "Perhaps a significant danger to Duo's well being will force Heero's soul to break free."
Duo stiffened and turned to the Borg with a huge grin, "Trowa You're a genius! I could kiss you!"
Quatre stepped between them and kissed the dazed humanoid himself, "That's my job." He teased, "But he does have a good idea. How will we do it without risking Duo if it fails though?"
"We haven't got a choice." Wufei snorted and glared at them. "The shit has a tracker in him. They will be here for both of them at any moment. And Duo is wanted 'dead' or alive."
The boys shared a worried glance, "We have to get out of here!"
"No."
"Duo?"
"If Heero needs to see me in trouble to snap out of this then I'm staying. I believe he'll come back. He has to."
Wufei growled, "And what if he doesn't?!"
"Then I wouldn't want to live any way."

Heero slammed into the barriers with all his mental force. //DUO!!! NO! Don't DO this to yourself!!! Damn! Damndamndamndamndamn!!!!//
//How could you give up on life so easily?! Do you
think I want you to die?!! Duo!!!// He banged the wall. Punches and kicks
rained down on it's clear surface. //LET ME OUT!!!//

Duo stood beside Heero in front of the angel statue he'd been found in. If there would be a final show down, he wanted it to be in this place.
"See that statue Heero?"
"Hn."
"That's were I was found." Duo smiled, "In the arms of the angel. The nuns always thought it was a sign. Never told them my parents hid me there to save me when they got deactivated." He sat at the statue's base, "Nah, I'm not a miracle child. I'm just a breed."
"You are not to say what is divine."
"Yeah, but I 'know' I'm not." He shrugged, "It's ok. Not like I want to stand out any more than I do now. But I would like the power to bring back 'my' Heero."
"The virus is contained."
"He isn't a virus, he's a soul! A personality!"
"Foreign element."
"Human."
"Unperfected."
"Wonderful."
"You are not acting in a rational manner."
"Fuck rational! You're calling the man I LOVE a virus!"
"love."
"Yes. Love."
"You will die if they come, correct?"
"Yeah."
"Then it is irrational to stay."
"But if it frees Heero I'll die."
"This is not the optimal solution."
"Then what is?"
"A significant stimulation of the soul."
"Huh?"
"By my calculations a significant stimulation to the soul would short circuit the main virus protector and by default, free the soul."
"Why would you help me?"
"You asked. I am not programmed to refuse."
Duo grinned, "A significant stimulation huh?"
"Correct."
"Is there any way to loose the tracers?"
"Deactivate the plug embedded in my shoulder."
Duo felt along the skin of the shoulder blade and sure enough, he encountered something hard just under the skin. "Deactivate your pain sensors a sec ok?"
"Done."
He dug into the flesh and ripped it free. "There. Come on."
"What is our destination?"
"The last place they'd ever look for me 'or' you."
"I need clarify the Query?"
Duo grinned, "Trust me."
___________________________
Heero pressed up against his mental prison, "Come on Duo. Free me. I'm here, I'm right here with you." He touched the circuitry around him, "Thank you for getting him out of danger."
*It was logical*
"Thank you for your logic then."
*Does not compute.*
"Emotion rarely does I've found."
They slipped quietly through the back alley's and deserted areas of the city, ducking into shadow and over fences, trying to keep out of the eyes of the Borg who had survived the explosion. They were heading toward the angel statue. Where Duo had thrown the chip.
"Lady luck is smiling again."
". . ." 001/Herro didn't answer. His memory scan deemed answer unnecessary.
"Over here!"
Duo swore, "Spoke too soon."
"You there! That man is wanted for execution." The police Borg addressed Heero and trained his gun upon Duo.
"I am special unit 001." The Borg held up Duo's wrist to show he was holding it. "I am taking him in."
The officer looked blank a moment then nodded and moved on. Duo finally let out the breath he'd been holding. "Heero! You didn't let them take me."
"I was ordered to watch you. Therefore you will stay with me."
He almost glowed and hugged the dark haired boy close. "Thank you."
"It was logical."
"It was Heero."
___________________________
Borg 001/ Heero Looked at the ruins of an old building before them and scanned his memory banks. "Apartment Complex. Status, condemned. Once used to house newly released Borg."
Duo nodded, "They would never look in their own building for us. It isn't logical for us to be here. See what happens when you go with logic?"
"How did you know of this place? The information on it is Borg veiwable only."
"This is where you lived before." Duo smiled at the memory. "It was destroyed after Relena failed to kill us. To hide evidence of failure."
"But to hide failure is to fail to learn from them. This does not achieve the maximum end."
The braided boy shook his head and climbed over the rubble and into Heero's old bedroom. "I hate to tell you this, but your creators are just as . . . no. . . they're more human than I am. And just as illogical."
"This is illogical. The maker must be supreme to the creation."
"He wasn't. Believe me." He pushed the rubble from the mattress and sat down. "That's why some of the Borg are able to fight back. Why Trowa and Quatre are together, and that is why Wufei is able to be our friend. It's how my dad and mom made me."
Heero sat heavily on the bed and looked straight ahead in thought. "The creator was flawed."
"Yeah. Majorly."
"And the creator is dead."
"You saw the building blow."
"Then what is my mission?"
"To be yourself. You make your own missions now Heero."
"My own."
Duo nodded, "You have a soul in there. Use it."
"The virus is contained."
"You told me it could be freed through significant stimulation." Duo smiled.
"True, but I do not comprehend the way you wish to. . ."
"Let me worry about it all right?"
Heero nodded and watched the breed boy carefully.
"Open your lips a little and tilt your head."
The Borg cocked his head to one side in question, "Wh. . ."
The question was cut off as Duo's lips pressed hungrily onto his. The Violet eyed boy slowly pulled the shirt from the smooth chest and trailed kissed over the slender neck down Heero's collarbone to latch onto his taunt nipples.
"What is the purpose o. . . oh! Of this action?"
Duo grinned around the nub in his mouth and whispered over the cool skin. "Stimulation."
Heero's eyes widened are the slim hands slipped into his shorts and cupped his buttocks firmly. The sudden empty need in him was burning. Illogical and flawed as it was he was eaten up by it. "Is this what a soul is like?"
"It's just the beginning."
He gasped and whimpered as the slender fingers swept over his puckered opening and then slid inside him in one thrust, unerringly hitting his G spot and making him arch in need, "The virus is. . ."
"Let him out. You'll feel so much more if you let him go."
"But it is not. . ."
"Life isn't logical." Duo pressed unto Heero again and again with one hand as the other pulled the shorts free and let him take the leaking member into his kiss swollen lips. "Mmmm."
"Ahhh!"
He slipped back and smiled with all the love he felt for his Heero. "But it's so much more rewarding."
"Duo I. . ."
"Please." He licked the straining rod and begged softly, his breath teasing it even harder than before. "Please."
The cobalt eyes flickered, "I am scared."
"I'm here."
"You. . ."
"I'll protect you."
Those magical fingers pressing hard against the swollen nub inside the borg's body and Heero cried out and slammed his body down onto Duo's hand as he experienced a feeling so awe inspiring and complete it made a robot cry. "DUO!" Then his sensors shut down.
___________________________
When he opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was his lover. And the rebel Breed had never looked so perfect to him. "Duo."
"Heero." He asked quietly and touched the other boy's face. "Is it you?"
"I love you."
Those wide violet orbs filled with tears and Duo hugged him tighter than a human could have stood and kissed his face over and over at his tears bathed that precious countenance. "Oh Heero! I love you! Love you so much!"
"I almost killed you."
"It wasn't you."
"Duo."
"Shhh. Just hold me for a while ok? Hold me?"
He nodded and enfolded the leather covered man into his arms. "As long as my core functions."
And while the two lovers embraced, J's remaining
troops were defeated by the rebels. Led by Wufei. And Quatre and Trowa
took the seat of power in the decimated world. And in the light of the
love of a Borg and a Breed, a new era was born, and healing began.
