Antonio McDyess wanted out of the metropolitan Los Angeles area team. He wanted to back somewhere closer to home. He got his wish as the Clippers dealt him to the Cleveland Cavaliers for what turned out to be the 8th pick in the 2000 draft, Tony Delk, Bobby Jackson and Keon Clark. The Clippers were mediocre at best this year. Injuries to Delk, Isaiah Rider hurt the Clippers chances. Also in the McDyess deal was Erick Dampier, the loss of Dampier created a vacuum at center, Clark a second year pro couldn't hold his own against the likes to Shaquille O'Neal and Alonzo Mourning. The Clippers ranked 29th in scoring, but 7th in scoring defense. Jason Kidd and Shareef Abdur-Rahim were named to the all star team. Kidd finished the season second in assists to Houston's John Stockton. With a late season boost, the Clippers made their 3rd straight appearance in post season play. However the Clippers were swept by eventual UBA runner up Vancouver. With additional picks through trades, the Clippers will get 3 solid rookies in 2000-2001.
