This year started with the Clippers making deals to pick up additional punch, first it was Eddie Jones, than the Clippers finally settled on Antawn Jamison. The 3rd year star went on to lead the Clippers in scoring at a 24.3 clip. Not to be outdone, Clipper veterans, Jason Kidd and Shareef Abdur-Rahim added brilliant seasons to the resume. Kidd scored 15.4 points, dished out 11.2 assists and grabbed 6.1 rebounds. Kidd lead the league in assists and finished third in steals. Abdur-Rahim scored 22.1 points a game and added 9.7 rebounds. The Clippers added veteran centers Vitaly Potapenko and Christian Laettner to help in the paint. Neither disappointed. Veteran mainstay, Lamond Murray chipped in with 12.4 points a game. The Clippers improved from their 1999-2000 record of 41-41 to finish the season as the 8th seed with a 47-35 record. With the slew of free agents this summer, the Clippers will no doubt have a new theme in 2001-2002.
