Tadewi Mystique

Tadewi is my very first online character. She was born over five years ago on the MOO Ghostwheel. Somehow, I've managed to keep her alive through all the ups and downs of her life.

Tadewi's history is a brutal one. Born into a wealthy noble family of N'Orleans, she was cherished by both her father, Jean-Marc, and her mother, Abeytu. She surely would have grown up pampered and spoiled, if not for a twist of circumstances beyond her control. At the age of three, her mother died while in childbirth to her sister, Andree. Her father was devestated, withdrawing himself into a brooding dispair that the entire Maison felt. Servants left one by one, until only the nanny remained, trying to care for the children. Finally, Jean-Marc killed himself in the infamous black pond of Metairie Cemetery, Lake Prospect. The children, only four and one respectively, were shipped off to the nearest orphanage as their fates were decided as well as the fate of the family fortune... Finally, a greedy cousin was located, and he promptly took over the family holdings and shipped the two heirs off to an orphanage farm, declaring that neither could claim the Mystique fortune until one was of the age of 18. Of course, he hoped neither would survive the ordeal that awaited them....

Without going into graphic detail, Tadewi's life became a virtual hell on Earth almost from the day she stepped onto the farm's grounds. She and her sister were subjected to horrible torments, neglect and starvation. Her young mind unable to cope with this sudden onslaught of terror, it split. Tadewi developed Multiple Personality Disorder. Despite their hardships, Tadewi and Andi managed to escape the farm as Tadewi approached the age of 16. The two were unaware of their birthright, and together hacked out their existances from the sands of the Wasteland. It wasn't until a few months later that they arrived at the infamous Real/Time Building, and with it the hospitality of a good number of Crystal hunters and travellers. One such traveller, a Lost Submariner by the name of Deckard, aided them in returning home to N'Orleans.

Little waited for them in their former home. Their greedy cousin had long ago drained the family's vast coiffers, and left the old Maison to rot with time and lack of care. Tadewi and Andi's first year of freedom was spent working on their ancestral home, and attempting to reclaim their name and honor. Other nobles pitied them, but few raised a finger to help. Tadewi never forgot this. In the arena of love, however, Tadewi blossomed. Commander Guru, began to peel away the layers of her abuse, bit by bit, and though she was young, she fell utterly in love with him. His disappearance into the Wastelands later devestated her, though she was grateful for the friendship and protection of her friend, Deckard. (Who privately had been commanded to watch over her by Guru himself, despite the young submariner's growing admiration and love for her.)

Tadewi eventually fell in love with Deckard as it became obvious that Guru was not going to return for her. The two never married, but shared the creation of a son, Ash. Through the years, no matter what the problem and no matter what the circumstance, the two would remain fast friends, linked by their son and their love for one another, even as the flames of passion died away later in their relationship.

Tadewi eventually managed to wrest the family's remaining fortune from her greedy cousin, gaining her revenge by leaving him broke and penniless. Gaining complete control over the family by the age of 18, she set about re-establishing the Mystiques as a powerful Familie. This caused much neglect at home, and soon Andi disappeared to seek her own fortunes and her relationship with Deckard began to fail. Saddened by her sudden losses, she dropped out of the spotlight for a time, attempting to regain her homelife.

As if she hadn't enough trouble, Tadewi didn't realize that evil lurked just around the corner from her. At the height of her family's power, she attracted undue attention from the powerful, mad, self proclaimed Emporer of Drach'Nal, the Adept Rathe. Forcing her into an unwanted marriage, Tadewi quickly relived more horrors then she ever dreamed she would while in her younger years. A brutal, powerful man, Rathe cared nothing for Tadewi, using her only for her vast recooperated fortunes, contacts and resources, as well as her reputation within N'Orleans, which he planned to eventually conquer.

Rathe's sudden death brought much needed relief and combined with the sudden return of Andi, Tadewi felt at last her life was back under control. Unfortunately, rumors of her husband's death were quite untrue, and since he has returned several times to remind her who she belongs to. Tadewi lives in fear every day, fear for her son and sister's lives, fear for her sanity, and fear of her supposedly dead husband's mad fascination with her. Some say she's gone so far as to court the Chaos Adept, Toraxyn, hoping Rathe's arch-enemy might save her...
