Academics- Being that he was the favorite bedtime playtoy for the Emperor for years, he was taught the basic skills usually not accessible to simple village people. His academics include the standard reading, writing, and arithmatic subjects as well as history, a smattering of languages and other cultured studies usually thought to be reserved for Kutou nobles and elite. He is capable of reading and writing in all the dialects of the Land of the Four Gods. He is also trained in the trader's tongue, as he was originally taught it while living among the Hin.

Military Science- Taught by Koyuu Gi himself, Nakago's military skills are without peer. His only competition, Eichuu, died at the same time as the former shogun, leaving him the ultimate Kutouese warrior and general. He has knowledge and talent in tactics, strategies, and weapons as well as how to effectively make use of his surroundings, topography, and resources to bring battles to decisive ends, in his favor. He has a natural ability to spot error and weakness in his enemies and exploit that knowledge to see himself and his armies victorious as well as the ability to keep morale high among his own men and present himself as a man who commands respect and dignity as their leader. On his own, the man is accomplished in different fighting styles with several different weapons (sword and whip most prominant) or with his bare hands.

Espionage- Let's face it, Nakago most likely has a network of spies and informants planted in several countries to keep an eye on situations and report back to him. No one can possibly know as much as he does without something like this. He knows where best to place people and how to interweave them without making them seem immediately suspicious (though after that they're on their own). He has also developed ways of communication, codes and other little secret ways of transferring news, in order to keep other countries from finding out they have red herrings in their midst.

Occult/Toxicology- Besides what he knows about theology, and his own seishi powers, Nakago has gone into depth in researching other forms of sorcery and poisons, things he might need to know to further his goals. He is knowledgable in what poisons are most often used in assassination attempts, their cures, and how best to apply them to leave a victim no time to seek aid. He also knows minor sorcery sorts of tricks, and magical curses that can be used against his enemies. Many of his little tricks combine his knowledge of the arcane and toxic substances, so this skill is a sandwiched together.

Theology- Knowing nothing about Seiryuu when he arrived, the Emperor saw to it that Nakago was given an extensive education into theology, Seiryuu especially, but also the legends surrounding Byakko, Genbu and Suzaku. Nakago knows nearly anything there is to know about Seiryuu (not that he much cares), and most legends and stories involving the other three Gods and various others, such as Tenkou and Taiitsukun. He has even heard snippets about a singular God out of Galbadia and knows that there is spirit worship going on in Balamb. For the most part, he doesn't really care about religion, for Nakago is out to destroy everything and gain his vengence on the Gods. But he researches it anyway, in case he can find a weakness or spot a possible way to reach his goal that might render the Miko unnecessary.

Riding/Mounted Combat- Nakago knows how to handle riding horses as well as larger war horses with barding. He's also capable of fighting while on horseback and somehow maintaining his seat in the saddle rather than being knocked out of it. Generally, he knows the basics for caring for a horse, but usually leaves that up to servants and others to handle. Most of his knowledge is battle field learned.
