Who: Selphie Tilmitt, Irvine Kinneas Where: Irvine's Dorm room Why: After the whole travesty with Terra, Irvine's finally getting to rest and take care of that damn cold. With Nurse Selphie attending, of course. Date of Log: August 31, 2000.
Irvine is in bed, most definately. The chair that's usually at his desk has been pulled over to the side of the bed and seems to contain a number of things on it. Tissues, a cup of water or some sort of clear liquid, a couple bottles of medicine from Dr. Kadowaki's office (penicillin is one of them, the other seems to be a fever reducer). Wrapped up in blankets, Irvine appears to be asleep.
Shave and a haircut... o/~ Selphie's familiar knock raps on the door, though it's rare that she -does- knock these days. Though, Irvine having just returned from Glacial Prison and all, she's sure that perhaps he'd like to sleep. Besides, she's -sure- he got at least the sniffles -- and when people are sick, others walk on eggshells around them. And since there aren't any eggshells around, knocking on a door will have to suffice. ...Though she just opens the door immediately afterwards, carefully, balancing a food tray with her other arm. Eek. A bowl of what's most likely chicken soup sits (sloshes?) on it, though it's contents are... Er. Well, half gone, or half there, depending on your stance. The rest? On the dorm hallway, outside the cafeteria, on the front of Selphie's whore_dress... Ehee. Oops. She means well, at least. Slowly, caaaaarefully, the girl heads further in -- pausing only to blink at his sleeping form. Wow. He -is- sick. ...But aww, so cuuute.
Irvine is lucky he's not dead, actually. Terra was kind enough to attempt a cure spell on him, which bought him some time. Dr. Kadowaki's already given him the third degree about doing this while so obviously sick. The protozoa prolifferating in his lungs was enough to make her gasp and almost insist he stay in the infirmary. However, he conned her into letting him stay in his room, so long as he takes his medication on time, and takes -all- of it. And goes to see her at least once a day. That's gonna be the hard part, making himself get out of his warm bed to let her poke and prod him and listen to his lungs again. Otherwise, as Selphie sneaks into his room with the sloshing soup'd tray, he doesn't wake up yet. Sigh! Men. Carefully, Selphie sets the tray down on the floor beside the bed, not trusting the desk, and all. Rising, her attention is then moved down to the front of her dress. Agh! It's all chicken-soupy. Holding her arms out to her sides in the universal 'yuck, I'm all wet!' gesture, she sums up the 'damage.' Nothing a wash won't fix. And since Irvine's still blissfully asleep, the girl decides that a change of clothes wouldn't hurt much. Which might, in fact, explain why she starts rummaging through 'her' drawer -- plucking a t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants from it. And seeing as how he's -asleep- and all, Selphie has no problem in starting to change right where she is -- back to the bed, though. Zzziiiip.
That is blatantly cruel. A sick Irvine does at this point wake up, maybe he's just accustomed to waking up to the sound of a zipper being pulled. However, he's disoriented, one of the medications making him drowsy and slightly dizzy. So, that means he doesn't quite get to enjoy this as much as he would if he were actually coherant. Realizing it's Selphie, indeed, he sighs, making a mrph sort of sound as he turns over, mumbling, "Sefie, do that inna bathroom, kay?" Wow... he -must- be sick.
Selphie blinks. A 'mrph'? Uhoh. Quietly gasping then at the voice that follows, the girl half-turns, arms instincitvely covering what aren't yet altogether -uncovered-. But still, she's paranoid. Eek. Blushing slightly, she wrinkles her nose, turning back the way she was; indeed, "You -must- be sick." Despite his instruction otherwise, she hastily shrugs the dress off of her shoulders, then just as quickly skims her shirt and pants on. ...He turned over, right? "--Hrmph! I guess I'll just," Selphie says, picking her Chickeny dress up, "take back your soup, then, if you're gonna be -that- way." Hee.
"I am," comes the weary reply to his being sick. And seeing as he's not really hungry at all, he's not really all that sorry to hear she'll take the soup back. However, he really doesn't want -her- to go. He rolls back over after a check to make sure she's dressed. He's no where near well enough to even be thinking about his sex drive and the fact that he nearly got to peek at a partly naked Selphie. "Don't go... please." Aw, he even says it in that pouty, sicky voice. Fever spots are fairly bright on his cheeks at the moment and he's looking at her through half-lidded eyes. It's been a long time since he's felt this cruddy.
Awww~...! Jeez, -make- the girl feel bad. Selphie wasn't even gonna leave, and she -still- feels guilty for 'thinking about it,' which she didn't. "I won't, I won't...!" Said in, of course, a higher, cuter, voice. She holds up a finger, though, motioning him to wait a moment as she ducks into the bathroom. Running water, then muted running water. The brunette fills the sink up, then plops her dress into it. He won't be needing the sink anytime soon -anyway-. But while she's in there, she also dunks a washcloth into the water, rings it out, and back out she trots. "You poor -thing-," Selphie coos, heading immediately to perch at the edge of the bed, moving the chair a little if she has too. "Do you starve a cold," she ponders, folding the cloth in her hands, "Or feed it? Or... Starve a fever?"
Uh oh... it's Nurse Selphie. Hellloooooo Nurse! Irvine tries to smile slightly, eyes drifting shut of their own accord. "Dr. Kadowaki wants me drinking water, constantly. Her orders." That explains the glass of water that's been sitting on the chair Selphie moved so she could perch on the bed. Really, he wants to sit up, but he's been asleep for a few hours now and the medicines wore off. This leaves him with the chills so bad that even under the thick blanket, he's shivering as if he were still in that cold cavern he and Terra had to take shelter in. Now -that- is an experience he does not wish to repeat. Finally, he does try sitting up. "Time is it?" He's never sure anymore, drifting in and out of sleep.
Selphie really should invest in a little vinyl Nurse's number. ...Nah. One hand, already chilly from handling the washcloth, is lifted and pressed against the cowboy's face and cheeks. "Past your bedtime," she answers, not really sure exactly what time it is. "--Do you want another blanket, hon?" Hon. Belatedly, the girl blinks -- and looks confused. "...So, you drown a cold?" Sigh.
Reaching up to take the washcloth, Irvine shakes his head, "Er... no, Darlin'." Peeling himself partially free from the blanket, it's clear to see he's probably not well dressed beneath that blanket, though surely he wore a pair of boxers... or did he. He even has to think about this for a second, and then decides it doesn't matter anyway. Gesturing toward the chair, he asks hoarsely, "Hand me the water, would you? And the bottles, both of em." Meaning the little medicine vials that sit right by the glass. If it's past his bedtime, then it's past time to be taking the meds.
Blinking for a moment, Selphie ponders -how- you get rid of a cold, then. But she's distracted easily enough, first by Irvine's obvious lack of much clothing, then by the question. However, the question is seemingly not really heard into a few seconds after it's said, as her brain lights on the idea that perhaps Irvine's nekkid. Eek. "--Er, both of them?" Let's -not- think about that. Nekkidness is saved for shower and bathtime! Obediently, she picks the glass up, holds it out to be taken, then gathers the bottles with her other hand. "Are they cherry flavored?"
Nekkidness is a wonderful thing, there is nothing wrong with the human body. But, Irvine's brain isn't functioning correctly. In other words, he's not thinking about sex. At all. Taking the glass, and the vials, he gives Selphie a strange look, "Cherry? I dunno... I just swallow them." Not the chewable kind. That said, he takes two of one and one of the other and swallows them down with what's left of the water in the glass, stretching to put the glass back so Selphie doesn't have to. (And my there's a lot of innuendo tainted stuff being posed today.)
Yay! Another way to calm Irvine down. Get him sick. Not that Selphie would really -do- that... "Oh." Boring! Part of being sick is having to take horrid tasting syrup and get shots. "..." Didn't she come here for a -reason-? "..." ...YES! Yes! Her soup! Well, the Lunch Lady's soup. Perking suddenly, Selphie oh!'s. "Are you hungry? Are you, are you? There's not much soup left, but if you're super-duper hungry, there's some left on the floor outside, I bet." She's not exactly familiar with being a Nurse. Oh well.
That makes Irvine chuckle. He leans back against the wall now, pulling the blanket up so it's surrounding him again. It'll take a bit before both meds start working. Well, he won't notice the antibiotics so much as the actual cold pill. "No thanks, Darlin', but I appreciate the gesture." Most of what he's done today is sleep. More medicine, eat, sleep. Sleep some more. Medicines, etc. He turns his head toward the wall to cough suddenly and Selphie can probably hear that deep rattle that scared Dr. Kadowaki too.
"...Oh." Her tone of voice would make burly biker men feel guilty and give her a lolli. A crestfallen Selphie slumps a bit. How can someone that's sick -not- want chicken soup? Especially when -she- brought it! And spilled most of it on the way. "It's okay, I mean, it wasn't, like... That big of a deal," she says further, using that same heart-breaking tone. Le -sigh-. Of course, then Irvine coughs. Blink. "--Ohmygawsh, your poor -thing-...! Do you want some cough drops?" Worry, fret, worry. Irvy should feel very loved! And guilty. Hrmph, she didn't want him to eat that soup -anyway-.
Guilt only works when you feel normal enough for the emotion to click in and hold. Unfortunately for Selphie, Irvine's really too incoherant for half the stuff he hears and sees to register. Huh? Selphie was saying something. It sounded cute though, so as soon as he gets the cough-fit under control, he half smiles at her. It doesn't last though and he soon sinks back down against the bed, head falling to the pillow. "I hate being sick... cough drops won't work. Not for this cough. Doc says it's pneumonia, or something like that."
Selphie wasn't really angling to make him feel guilty in the first place, so she's not discouraged, or anything. Watching the cowboy sink back against the bed, her brow furrows, and she brushes some hair from his face. Aww. "I'm sorry~...! I wish I could -help-," she pouts; and, well, she -tried-. Selphie thought chicken soup made -everything- better, but Irvy doesn't want any. Sniffle. "Pnuemonia's -bad-, right? I think a girl I used to know got it -- er, like, forever ago. I don't remember what happened to her, though..." Probably because she died, and Selphie's memory isn't the best, anyway. Eek. Probably best she doesn't remember that.
"I guess so, Doc was kinda upset about it," Irvine replies quietly. Kinda upset is an understatement. But, that's neither here nor there. He turns his head slightly to smile at her as she brushes his tangled hair aside. "I love you. Missed you while we were gone, kept wishing you were with me." See? Terra's ploy to get her hooks into the cowboy failed utterly! Muahahahahahaha... ahem. He turns over slightly, just wanting to be a little closer to Nurse Selphie. "Doc says if I take the medicines, all of them, then I should be ok."
Selphie's worried expression quickly crumples, leaving behind a happy, if not pitiful, little smile. "But if I'd gone, I woulda' broken my leg! That woulda' -sucked-." Of course, this is all said with a smile, and she really -is- glad he's... well, -basically- okay. And even if Irvy has sick-cooties, as he turns more towards her, her hand moves to rubrub at his back in that motherly fashion. "Then you'd better take every -one- of them!" Yuh-oh. Take charge, Selphie! "I'd better not find a single one of those when this is all over!" As if he -wouldn't- take them. And for some reason, the scene from Misery where the man puts all of his sleeping pills into her wine pops into the girl's head. ...Hm. o_o
There'll be no worries about Irvine not taking his medication... for now, when he starts to feel better is when he'll get tempted to forget. Now, however, he feels fairly rotten and anything that might lessen his misery is welcome. He is a bit worried about giving this to Selphie, but at the same time, he's feeling selfish, wanting her here while he feels this way. Not that he thinks he could really keep her out anyway if he wanted to. He wouldn't let her push him out if the situation were reversed. He mrfs as she rubrubs at his back. It's soothing, and he's starting to drift off again to sleepyland. Those cold pills work fairly quickly and usually make him so drowsy he can't keep himself awake.
Selphie does slightly worry over getting sick herself, but has found in the past that she doesn't get sick very easily. Yay! Except, of course, when she doesn't sleep and barely eats for days on end, then runs a festival, then volunteers in the infirmary because she had nothing to do after the festival was done, then finally just crashes on a cot for a few days, an upon awakening, ravages the lunchroom. ...Not that she's, er, ever -done- that. ...Really. "Love you," she returns -very- belatedly, continuing the oh-so-soothing rubrubbing. And she even -hums-! A cute little song that's fairly lullibye-ish, presumably something that was learned previous in her life in a similar situation. ...And like Selphie wouldn't eat up Irvine hovering around her if she was sick. 'Irvy, I can't reach the tissues.' 'Irvy, I'm -hungry-.' 'Ew, Irvy, this has -peppers- in it.' 'My back itches. No, lower. Lower, lo--aaaah...'
Luckily, Irvine's not quite so demanding. The rubrubing of his back is more then enough for him. And the presence of his Sefie, of course. He murmurs, "... you too," but it's so soft the first part of it is entirely cut off. But, by now the cold medicine has begun to control the fever, the spots on his cheeks fading, and allowed the poor boy to breathe a little easier. Before he realizes it, he's asleep again. It's probably for the best, the body needs lots of sleep to recover from nasty illnesses.
...Aw. Even after the cowboy's asleep, Selphie continues her rubbing, and humming. Just to be sure. ...Besides, it's soothing for -her- too. And she smiles -- again enjoying Irvine's vulnerability. She likes being there for people, making them happy, making them well. Besides, it feels -so- right. Too right. Almost to the point of being surreal, in the same sense that the only thing that makes some CG art imperfect is the fact that it -is- perfect. She'll stay for another little while before taking her soup, COUGH, and wringing her dress out, and skittering ba |
