| Skills and talents possessed by Bart at this time: Academics: Math, what little science has been gleaned in the region, and other subjects such as poetry and religious beliefs around the world. The things a prince doesn't absolutely need to know, but they don't hurt and only aid in his general education. Though Bart does well at most subjects, he has a secret soft spot for poetry. Just don't ask him to show any of the poems he's composed. Hand to Hand Combat: For those rare times when Bart is caught without a whip, or somehow disarmed, he was taught how to fight properly using his fists. A prince must be able to defend himself at all times from would-be assassins. He's taken this to another level, thanks to the numerous scuffles he's gotten into thanks to that quick temper of his, and he has a style more akin to dirty infighting than anything really martial artsy. Courtly Manners: Skilled in the manners of a royal court, when Bart behaves himself, he assumes the role he was born into. Gestures, proper heraldry, how to address those approaching him, how to hold himself while in court, all of these things are behaviors the boy has been taught. This doesn't mean he likes any of it, for he doesn't. Posturing regal wasn't something he ever liked. History: Primarily the history of Aveh, this includes other bits of history as well, things considered worldly, such as the Sorceress War, and the histories of neighboring satellite nations within Sairou. This is a subject the daydreamer actually got into without much argument, and his knowledge of various histories is rather extensive. Literacy/Language: As a prince, Bart was forced to learn several languages and gain the ability to write in them as well. Bart speaks and writes the language native to Aveh, as well as the language native to the Four Kingdoms, including the nuances that differentiate dialect and writing. He knows trader's tongue, and has nearly mastered the language native to Dollet/Balamb/Galbadia and Midgarian, though his literacy in that language is somewhat rudimentary and the differentiating dialects sometimes get blurred. Maison tried to keep the boy glued to his lessons, but this wasn't always possible. Survival (Desert): How to survive sand storms, keep warm at night and cool during the day, what to look for when there's threat of another sand squall, and how to generally survive on his own while in the dangers of the desert that surrounds Aveh. Fairly self explanatory. Some of this was taught to him by others, and some merely picked up during his years in exile. Tactics/Strategy: A born leader, Bart assumed the mantle of 'Captain' of the Sand Pirates at a very early age. Through trial and error, and the guidance of those under his command, he eventually learned how to plan ahead and execute said plan in a manner that achieved their goal with as little loss of life an injury as possible. Guerilla Warfare When up against an opponent as powerful and large as the current contingent in Aveh, one must learn how to strike from the shadows and slink away again. Bart knows how to be a literal pain in the ass for the enemy, the stinging gnat that sneaks up, bites, and runs away again while the enemy tries to swat at him and his pirates. This is mostly limited to the desert, for he's never tried this sort of thing in any other region. Whips: His primary weapon, Bart uses whips with a finesse all his own. The whip is the weapon of choice for the Fatimas, and Bart was not allowed to be any sort of exception. Trained practically since he could hold a whip properly, Maison and others decided it better that the young prince know how to defend himself as soon as possible. As always, he's adapted it with his own style, tending to use two whips at once. |
