The Recruit

Colin Farrell is impressive. From Minority Report to Daredevil to The Recruit, hes been great to watch. Al Pacino looks old and considerably worn out since his Godfather days but still has commanding screen presence.
The story of an MIT grad who chooses to attempt to join the CIA where he gets neither sex nor money nor fame rather than DELL where hell probably gets all of the above is just a wee bit lame in that the poor kids quest to find out more about his missing father is somewhat left in the lurch as he reads too much into whats said to him by senior CIA agents.
The training itself at what they affectionately call The Farm is gripping, though you somewhat lose track of when they move from The Farm into the real life world of Langley, where everything may be just another test or a sinister plot youre never sure.
Not much action though the characters are interesting and you tend to get a bit cynical when you see so much espionage happening within the Pentagon itself, but on the whole a good watchable summer flick about joining the CIA because we believe in right over wrong, good over evil yada yada yada
The moral of the story that you finally come away with is that you should never really do any work unless you have it officially (preferably in writing) from a reliable source even if you have an unparalleled desire to please your instructor whos like a father figure to you.
