So this is what the fuss was all about. Well Id missed this movie when it was actually released and only got to watch it on Christmas Eve on HBO, so I was pretty excited and had rather high expectations. After all this is the movie that made Nora Ephron and Meg Ryan and its the movie that made everyone start to love romantic comedies.

To be honest, the concept really threw me. So the hero and heroine never actually meet till the very last scene. Thats rather new & cool. I liked it. Meg Ryan is adorable, so is Tom hanks and of course too his little son. And the constant references to the movie An affair to remember made me want to call up someone and say lets meet on top of the Empire State Building on Valentines Day. Though I must say that post 9/11, that may not prove to be a very good idea.

Nevertheless, a likeable movie, specially if you forgive the vagueness, like how she actually falls in love with a guy shed only heard on the radio shall we call it love at first voice? Mind you its not that I dont believe it could happen. Why not?

The beauty of it really is in the fact that as chance would have it, of all the fan mail he receives, his son likes only one, and as chance would have it, he sees her at the airport and knows that she is the one he wants. So as chance would have it, both father and son are actually for the very same person. Sigh. It is lovely.

I hope you see the similarity with Youve got mail though, wherein also, as chance would have it, the person in the mails and the person she actually begins to like are one and the same.

Yes, I like Nora Ephrons style. Simple and yet truly the kind of romance any woman would want to have.
