The show about nothing. That’s what they call it, and so proud they are of this fact that their website is actually of the same name. It ran from 1989 to 1998 as is evident from the outdated dresses worn by Elaine, but one thing’s for sure – the comedy isn’t outdated.
Some very very old season is showing currently in India and hey who cares what season it is, the four main characters are an absolute delight. You just can’t help bonding with them and there comes a point when each fan even gets into the Seinfeld lingo, which is just simply brilliant. The characters are imperfect and the different running storylines all seem to come together in the end. A Newman episode is a bonus.
“Hello Newman”.
“Hello Jerry”.
Ordinary lines? Not so my friend. You need to watch to become a follower. Whether its about “putting it into the vault” or ‘bizzaro world” or “art vandalay”, there are just so many things that are absolutely unique about this show.
First of all no one ever falls in love (thank heavens!). Secondly the show never gets serious about anything. Third, the comedy is so basic so common–sensical (if I could use such a word), that every episode ends up as a memorable one. This is one series that I can truly say has no problem with reruns because it’s watchable over and over again.
Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer. All weird, all adorable. In fact the episode in which Jerry actually tries to make an episode about him, his high school buddy, ex girlfriend and neighbor is absolutely hilarious.
They say that in the US, at any point of time, there’s a Seinfeld episode running somewhere on some channel. I say that if that were true, I’d never step out of the house.
