The Matrix Reloaded

Mr. Andersen is back. With a cape this time rather than a bang, actually. Faster, smarter and definitely a zillion times more confident, Neo has what it takes to crack the Matrix and get into the mainframe that hosts the source code.
There are some new characters in this film. Monica Belluci as Persephone in a tiny, illogical but memorable role, Naiobi as the ex girl in Morpheuss life and Link the new operator for the ship. There are also the ghost twins grossly underused if you ask me. The car and bike chase to protect the key maker was definitely the action highlight of the movie and I for one would certainly have liked to see more from the twins once they said they were getting aggravated.
And there are also those who have made a repeat appearance. Agent Smith, no longer an agent but with the new capability of being able to copy himself onto other programs and of course the Oracle who discloses that she too is a program and may or may not be trusted.
The three main protagonists are a pleasure to watch. Neo with his long black cape and jodhpur style high neck combating dozens of Smiths, Trinity with her shiny leather outfit reeking havoc on the backup generator building (the jump from the bike in the first scene is quite amazing) and Morpheus with his alligator skin coat running his gigantic sword right through the van of the ghost twins. I must say though that Morpheus addressal of the people of Xion didnt gel well with his character and even though he believes I prefer to think of him as the cool head of the gang never emotional the way he was.
Xion in itself is a brilliant piece of imagination though I never really got the point of what the councilor was trying to tell Neo. Nevertheless, a great world has been built for all humans and it needs to be protected.
Finally, its the architect of the system the old white bearded man who appears towards the end of the movie who really holds the punchline. In his long and wielding statements it seems is the key to who or what Neo really is. A test program. Thats why he is The One. Thats why he has the power to get into the system and thats why he must be the one to choose. In his sixth attempt also he chooses to save Trinity rather than get his hands on the source code. That is why he failed five times before and thats why he is going to fail again.
Not quite. Somethings different, says Neo after his ship has been destroyed. When he does a matrix style lifting of the hand to stop the worm like machines from getting to him, you almost hear people get to the edge of their seats and shout No, youre not in the matrix, dont try that. But sure enough, something has to be different. After all we expect the sixth version of Neo to succeed and that can only happen if something is in fact different. What has changed however would only be revealed after Neo comes out of the coma in the last edition of the Matrix trilogy.
Mr. Wachowski and Mr. Wachowski, dont make us wait too long.
