Chalte Chalte

Disappointing. Extremely disappointing. Lured towards the movie hall not only because of the star cast but also the slick teasers with the cool and sensual look and feel of Greece, I came out of the hall terribly disappointed. Disappointed because there was really no story. Disappointed because Shah Rukh overacted so much and has become so skinny that he was truly at his worst best.
If in fact there was anything at all good in the movie, it was Rani Mukerjis acting, make up and dresses. Yes, she looks great. Except for her hands and feet, which I must say, are the ugliest I have ever seen and Aziz Mirza wouldve done better to use a foot double in the new-wife-entering-house-for-the-first-time scene.
Just a couple of songs are good but the biggest let down is the characters themselves. The hero as portrayed in the second half is just nothing like the person in the first and he seems to be crying and miserable the whole time. Add to that the pathetic drinking scenes and what happens is that you not only wish that Rani Mukherji would leave him, you are actually upset in the final Hindi movie style climax when she comes back. Why oh why didnt she just marry Sameer, (Jas Arora) is what most people were thinking.
Why Rani Mukherji isnt working after getting married or why Shah Rukh is so complexed about his not-so-rich background goes totally unexplained. He didnt seem at all complexed while pursuing the poor girl all over the Myknos islands.
Finally, I think the point Aziz Mirza was trying to make was that falling in love is easier than staying in love. Point taken. Wish youd have tried saying it in a better way.
