Birthday Girl

No matter how hard I try, I have nothing good to say about this movie except for the fact that had it not been for the brand value of Nicole Kidman, even the few people who watched it may not have done so.

I was one of the unfortunate ones who sat down to watch a lonely suburban English bank teller arrange to get a mail order bride from an Internet site. In comes Nicole Kidman with a Russian accent whenever she said the only English word she supposedly knew, which was Yes and you know already that there must be an angle.

Without getting into the details of what exactly that angle is, let me say that the movie is terribly slow, completely predictable and an absolute waste of time as you come away not feeling anything for any of the characters except why did they do this in the first place and why am I watching this at all?
