It was Dr. Siddharth Sinhas (Amitabh Bachchans) Armaan to create a high tech hospital in a small village so that he could help people and as he rightly points out in the very first scene Doctor banana ek zimmidaari hai , and he spends his entire life doing just that.

A film that deals with doctors, their complete dedication to their vocation and their patients and also one that deals with a childs need to complete what his father was unable to. The fact that his father would not have wanted him to follow the path that he chose to somehow didnt seem all that important to the junior doctor.

Amitabh Bachchan in a small but brilliant role. Anil Kapoor in a long and equally powerful role. Gracy Singh well cast, but didnt quite live up to expectations and unfortunately a very clichd performance by Priety Zinta who comes across more like a psychotic individual rather than just a spoilt rich brat and if that was actually the intention then Honey Irani shouldve backed it up with at least a couple of scenes showing that several psychiatrists had failed to help the poor girl. In absence of that, one just ends up wondering why Soniya Kapoor is behaving in such a weird way.

The music is just about alright though Zintas half hearted attempt at looking sexy in the now very popular mere dil ka tumsey hai kehna spoils the otherwise excellent tune.

All in all a strong and different story and surely a watchable film with well drafted characters that you do end up caring for.

The end of the film is also hatke in that it deviates from the typical Bollywood adage that once married always married. And that is interesting because it shows that Bollywood is also changing along with the times.
