The Creepy Times Issue 6 newsletter by Rahul Alvares

Hi friends

It has been a while since I have last sent you an issue. Many things have happened in the last two weeks and Creepy Times took a severe bashing which it very nearly did not recover from.

For one thing my computer hard disk crashed. All my articles that I had written over the last five months nearly got wiped out! Luckily technicians in Bombay managed to salvage a lot from the drives and I have got almost all my articles back. Cost me three and a half thousand!

Moral of the story; Please please have a back up to all your important documents on a CD, paper or the internet. For God's sake don't rely on the damn computer.

Featured Article: Know your Snake: Saw Scaled Viper

The snake in the picture is known as the Saw Scaled Viper and is one of the four main venomous snakes of India . The snake probably causes the maximum number of bites in India too. It has an extremely volatile temper and is supposed to be one of the most aggressive snakes in the whole of Asia .

Notice clearly the arrow shaped mark on the head.

Myth: The snake is known in Konkani as ' Phoorse' and is supposed to be able to jump six feet high while striking its enemy.

Truth: No snakes can jump. The snake grows to not more than ten to twelve inches in length. Like all vipers it bears live young and the reason it is known as the saw scaled viper is because of the sound it makes by rubbing its body scales against each other producing a faint sawing like sound when alarmed.
