Hi Friend
I hope you have been receiving my emails.
Here's the new 'Know your snake'
the snake pictured is the Checkered keelback. It get's its name from the
prominent spots always marking its body. The snake is usually greenish
orangish in colour, but sometimes males may even appear pinkish.
Locally it is known as levalé. The snake is usually found in water
and feeds on frogs and fish.
myth; if bitten by this snake on wednesday, the victim is supposed to
imbibe a special power along with the bite, which prevents him from being
bitten by all other snakes for ever!
truth: the snake is one of the most aggressive snake, but fully non venomous
in its bite. when training to handle snakes i was allowed to be bitten
a multiple number of times by this snake to remove the fear of snakes
and their bites that we all posses. I hold scars to this day!
