Hi Fellow Craw-lee Recent studies on humans and mice have shown that persons and umm…rodents get ‘turned off' by lengthy literature. Studies have also shown that less than 5% persons and less than 9% rodents read anything if it is more than 3 sentences long. In fact if I write one more sentence I run the risk of 20% creepy subscribers and one grandpa rodent not reading umm…the further sentences at all. All figures quoted above are concocted though it is a fact that less people have time to read these days. I shall therefore include more pictures in this issue. |
I've had some interesting catches this monsoon; Catch number 1; A large checkered keelback I pulled out from a flooded drain in Mapusa market. A huge crowd materialized to see the show in a matter of seconds.
Catch number 2; Three Baby pythons caught at Cafe Lila in Baga. One morning when I went to feed the snakes I found the pot they were in, toppled over, the covering pot had smashed and the snakes escaped, probably somewhere in my garden. I still can't figure out how that happened.

Book Review; Honorary Tiger The life of Billy Arjan Singh Duff Hart Davis My ma picked this book up for me from the OIB bookstore and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed reading it. I always wondered why such a big fuss was made about Billy and his leopards and tigers, till I read this biography on him. The start of the book is actually a little boring as it deals with Billy as a kid. There is mention of his joining the army, plus what I thought were unnecessary details on his brothers and parents. I almost put down the book thinking it might continue with this boring family saga but then decided I would read fifty pages to give it a fair chance. Well I am glad I gave it that chance. To say I was hooked thereafter would be an understatement. Once the big cats enter, the book gets very interesting. Billy faced a lot of hardships protecting tigers; strangely most of his conflicts were with the Forest Department! Throughout his life he faced severe opposition from the Forest Department. The book is very inspiring; an excellent present for humans and rodents that read. Price ; Rs; 350
