Beautiful Scotland
Greetings to all of you from London..!!
To my updates i would like to add this beautiful experience I ever had in my life...!! Yes, this is not exaggeration. We had planned long back for our Scotland tour. We booked our flight tickets, hotel accommodations and tour tickets some 20 days back. And as we booked well in advance, we got huge discount on our tickets. Well; many of you might not be interested in knowing about this pounds business, but please bear with me for few lines. :-)
The air ticket that normally costs around 70 s, we got it for 40 s, and if we would have done it a day before, we could have got it in 20s. Anyway, we got our tickets and hotel booked on the net. All that we had to prove our bookings was the print out of the email!! My colleague who paid for these bookings was checking his account everyday, as he was afraid of any possible cheating. But thank god; nothing happened like that!
Our trip started on Jan 26th, 2001. It was Friday and in the weekend spirit, we left our office early in the evening. We all met at  "Liverpool Street ", a railway station in London. From there we caught the train  "Standsted Express " to Standsted airport. It took around 45 mins to reach to Standsted. We had site seeing on our way to Standsted. London is more beautiful outside London!!
We took off at nearly 11:00 PM and reached  "Glasgow " (prestwick airport) in Scotland at 11:45 PM. From there again we caught train to  "Glasgow Central ". From there we went to our Youth Hostel and went to bed immediately!! We were chatting just like that till 2:00 AM and then really slept!!
Got up early in the morning (5:00 PM) on Jan 27th, 2001 and went to the bus station ( "Queen's Station "). This was a tourist bus to  "highlands " and  "brave hearts ". We saw sterling castle on the way to highlands. I don't have words to describe the beauty we saw! It was a feel of heaven. The driver cum guide was continuously telling about the history of the places. But I found there present much more beautiful!! He sounded interesting as he was cracking jokes in the beginning. But then it became boring like anything. We were scolding ourselves for praising him in the start!! Anyway ignoring his commentary, I just kept looking at the beautiful nature around.
There is nothing much to write about this trip. It was just something to feel. Even after two sleepless nights, no one was looking tired. The nature and the freshness there had really recharged us. Again it was exciting for me as I saw the snow covered ranges for the first time.
Though the temperature out there was around -4 C, I was not feeling it cold! It was rather pleasant! It was real fun!! We saw the Scottish whiskey cellars and the  "Naval yards " (station for submarines) on our way back from Bravehearts.
The bungalows out there are like a palace in the heaven! If ever I got money in my life, I'll definitely buy a bungalow in Scotland!! That?s my dream!! I am in love with Scotland!! We came back to Glasgow in the evening. We went to our colleague's house in the Glasgow and spend some time with him. Then we went to our hotel again. I was amused to see the managers hospitality.. Scottish people are very sweet.. I wish I get a Scottish wife.. (Pray for me guys!!!) A Scottish girl and a Scottish bungalow; wow!!  "YEHI PAR MUKTI MIL JAYEGI "
Next day (Jan 28th, 2001) morning we left for Edinburgh (pronounced edin'bara). We caught a train from Glasgow central. Reached there at 11:00 AM. Weather was pleasant and it was sunny day in the morning. We went to see the Edinburgh castle. It was good.
Then we wondered just like that in the city and caught a bus to  "Deep Sea World  ". This is an aquarium kind of place, the only different here is we are in a showcase and the sea animals are free! Yes we travel through an underwater glass tube and can see sea life as it is naturally. It was damn cool! I touched the starfish with my hand. Then we left Edinburgh in the evening. Reached Glasgow and went to our hotel.
Next day morning we caught our flight to London and came to office with some dreams and memories of Scotland's!! It was really boring for all of us to work that day. But it was only our work what took us to Scotland!! (I know this is a bit philosophical!! and  "thoda jyada ho raha hei !! " :-) )... So started it again.
That?s all about my Scottish trip. And yes, people in Scotland and much more traditional and cultured than in London. They still wear their traditional Scottish skirt with Scottish checks. That?s all about me for now; more in the next mail. See you soon.
Warm Regards,
Rahul
