Shonali speaks during the cultural speech portion: Namaste and good evening. I would like to use the title of Miss International 2003 as a forum to work towards the empowerment of women. My mission is to bring abut greater gender equality. I truly believe that the only way a nation can progress is to have women and men complement each other in every way of life. The Miss International Beauty Pageant brings together a few chosen women from all over the world on one common platform. We should use this platform to emancipate women, who are not as fortunate, and help them realize their full potential.

She admitted being disappointed at not winning the Miss India crown, but is ready to go to the Miss International Beauty Pageant in Tokyo, Japan and try to win a major title held by no Indian, yet. She admires Aishwarya Rai, Lara Dutta and Rani Mukherjee. The daughter of an army officer, she finished college, and threw aside a lucrative modelling career for a more 'serious' one. She is the very Sindhi Shonali Nagrani, Femina Miss India-International 2003.
