Conventions.

What I like about going to conventions is the sitting around in the Lobby and talking with someone I don't get to see very often and just catching up, or talking about really trivial stuff, or talking about really deep stuff, or whatever.
Some of the most fun I've had at conventions is talking with
Fredd.  He's one of my favorite artists, largely because he's one of the only artists I personally know.  But his style is also very cool.  I have one of his pictures in my room.  He's quite good.
I used to be an art fanatic.  I'd blow 3, 4 hundred bucks on artwork at a convention.  That was before I had a kid and all that.  Now I blow money on babysitters.  And new toys for Mike and Xcylur.
We have been attending the local convention for about 4 years now.

We go to very few others.  Mike's got to attend Gen-con a couple of times.  I'd like to go once.  I'd like for him to be able to go, cause he really enjoys it.

Since Amtgard took over our lives, we don't do as much of the convention scene.  Mike wants to go to this contraception con in KC.  We're set to go to MageCon in Sioux City to promote Amtgard.

We'll attend Nuke-Con again.  We'll run a larp or two and hang out.  It'll be okay.

I'd go to the big Goth Con if I had someone to Goth out with (maybe Aaron?  Or Corey?)

I'd go to the Anime con if I was more into Anime.

I'd go to a Costume Con just to drool.

But I'm lazy.  And being a prole, I'm poor.
Mike thought it would be cool to run a convention again.  I was skeptical.  We've done that before and in the end there were politics and BS.  So I said, "go ahead, dear, whatever you want."
Things actually went very well.  The whole idea was to run a small one-day event where people could come and game for like a buck.  He's had pretty good attendance and he's pretty happy.

So eachyear, for his birthday, he runs a small one day event that makes a couple of bucks.  We sell sandwiches and soda and game.  We've premiered some great scenarios, and we've found some excellent gaming.  And everyone seems to have fun.
Beddescon, Mike's Gaming Convention extrodinaire!!!!!!
Xcylur loves the running around the hotel part of conventions.  Or the getting adults to let him play their games part of conventions.

He and his buddies like to make up games, and game on their own.  But at conventions it's exotic.

He had a ball figure gaming recently.  We were a little worried his table-top might suffer.

We're such geeks.
Nuke Con is our local gaming convention.  We keep saying we'd like to get a Larp convention going here in town, but once again, money is a factor.
