As the fateful hour approached, we all readied for the toast and the kissing. Everyone except Xcylur who had fallen asleep during his big New Year's event, Dexter's Laboratory's first movie, "Ego Trip." As I tucked him into be he told me "Happy New Years, Mommy". Which is all I wanted for the next century.
Xcylur after snacks and before he hit the deck. He was beat, but he had a great time. He had treats, he was the center of attention and he got a room full of grownups to watch his cartoons.
Mike, Shawn and Dan, laughing and having a great old time. The zero hour is approaching, and you'd never guess that Mike has the house stocked as if we were living in a bomb shelter.
Daddy, ever the master of ceremonies, leading the room in a toast to the next century. Everyone raised their glasses high and prepared for the New Year. A few people considered turning the lights out, but in the end, we were all just to happy and high to care. Maybe that's why we party on New Years, we're looking for a future as happy as the party makes us feel.
The motivation for a lot of people to toast New Years. Gross public displays of affection. Though some of us don't need New Years as an excuse, take advantage of what you can.
Now the moment has passed and its a New Century. ANd the Taylor's kids are going to bed, so we can proceed to get really wild!
In the immortal words of Maurice Sendak, "Let the wild rumpus start!"
