2/18/05 -Miss Bitch arrived today. A BEW HL brood doe, she'll be used for testbreeding to see check on the BEW status of any upcoming Wonka babies. None of her babies will be kept for the breeding program, however.
1/26/05 -Deeders & Moose have decided to stay at my barn.
Deeders is short & deep in body, very smooth body, but has longer shoulders.
Moose is very deep, short, with an awesome HQ & top view, just a lil long in the shoulders.
Both could carry the Blue Eyed White (BEW) gene.
Both will be bred in May (hopefully) to see if they carry the BEW gene. Then Moose will be bred back to Wonka, and Deeders to another buck.
What does BEW mean?: BEW means Blue Eyed White.
What does BEW do?: BEW, like REW (or albino) "covers/hides" the true colour of the rabbit with white colour. Just imagine a regular black, painted with white (M. Jackson! lol). M. Jackson, when bred to another black, will still produce black rabbits, but M. Jackson looks white. It's what's underneath the white covering that determines what "true" colour he is. The REW gene does the same thing. You can only find out what the "true" colour of the BEW rabbit is by test breeding.
How do you get them?: My BEW MLs were made by crossing BEW AFL or FL rabbits with purebred Mini Lops. The first generation (say, BEW FL x regular ML) makes BEW carriers. Those carriers were bred together, producing true BEWs. Those BEWs were bred to more regular MLs, producing more carriers. Those carriers were bred to their parents, or together, to produce more BEWs and BEW carriers. And so on and so forth!

Vienna: Name for BEW gene; Animal has pure white coat and blue eyes.
*Any rabbit out of a BEW animal will carry the BEW gene*
Vienna carrier: Out of a BEW or Vienna carrier animal, carries the gene but does not show it.
Vienna marked: Out of a BEW or Vienna carrier animal, carries the gene and shows it with regular colour & a snip of white, or dutch markings, or blue eyes, or all of the above!
#1: Is "broken" patterned, white face and markings are sparse on the ears and absent on the nose.
#2: Has dutch markings and blue eyes (FYI: it was out of a vienna marked doe with similar markings).
