Grooming

Ragdolls do not shed hair excessively, however it is a good idea to give them a quick brush and comb each week to remove any loose hair from their coats.

Feeding

Our kittens are brought up on a variety on Premium dried biscuits such as Hills Feline Growth, Hills Science Diet, IAMS Kitten, Advance (Whiskas Professional) or Natures Recipe as their main diet.  The kittens graze on these 24 hours a day and must have a fresh supply of water daily. From 3 months onwards the kittens also require 3 snacks a day consisting of quality tinned food such as Whiskas, Chef, Gourmet, Dine or Friskies, with a variety of fresh steak mince, boneless fish, cooked boneless chicken, Tuna in Spring Water or a small amount of grated cheese as a treat, plus of course their dried biscuits.

We do not give out a measured amount of dried food to our cats and kittens, they graze on the biscuits according to their needs.

Our kittens are given Whiskas milk when being weaned from their mothers. Fresh water every day is essential.

Medical

Ragvale kittens are vaccinated at 8 weeks and 12 weeks with the Killed Vaccine. Under New Zealand Cat Fancy rules a registered kitten may not be sold under the age of 10 weeks. Ragvale will not sell a kitten until it has received its second vaccination at 12 weeks, completed a course of worming tablets and then desexed. Male kittens are de-sexed at 12 weeks and females at 14 weeks but this again is dependent upon their weight, not their age. After breeding Siamese for 14 years and having them de-sexed at a later age, we have found the Ragdolls make an amazing recovery at this younger age.
