| JASON'S 1972 FORD MAVERICK |
| Jason's car was originally owned by his grandmother living in Illinois. At her death, the car was driven to New Jersey for nieces who drove it while attending their college years. When there was no longer any use for the car, the relatives called and asked if Jason would like to have it to drive now that he was sixteen years old and had his driver's license. The only catch was that he had to make arrangements to come to New Jersey to drive it back. Needless to say, to get a car without having to pay for it other than to get it back to Illinois was an offer that couldn't be refused. During his college years, the car was driven back and forth averaging about 60 miles each trip. Jason soon learned the lesson of slowing down on ice covered bridges during this time. An incident of losing control and ending up in a ditch, gave him is first real experience of winter driving. Soon after graduating from college, Jason had the opportunity to work for a company in California. He didn't want to leave his car behind, so he and the Maverick left Illinois for California where he stayed for the next four years. If his grandmother, could only see the car now! Jason has worked on the car on and off for almost 12 years. He entered it in our local White Squirrel Cruisers Car Show, and won a trophy for his efforts. Now the car's resting place is back at his parent's home in Illinois as Jason has moved again taking a job in Pennsylvania. I guess you can say, the car has come "full circle". Not sure if it will make the trip to Pennsylvania any time soon! Up-to-date pictures with specifications will be added at a later date. |
