Roger as a "Rookie" Patrol Officer in 1967/ Roger as Director of Public Safety prior to his retirement in 2000.
I retired as Marshalls Director of Public Safety in April, 2000, after serving 20 years. Ive been in law enforcement for a total of 33 years, which included four years as Director of Public Safety in Leoni Township, Michigan.

In June of 2002, I was appointed as a Magistrate in the Calhoun County 10th District Court. I am assigned to arraign incustody defendants for various crimes, both felonies and misdemeanors, as well as take pleas and sentence on some misdemeanors. I enjoy the work, and am pleased to return to Criminal Justice.

I started my law enforcement career in 1967 in the City of Westland. While at Westland, I was a motorcycle officer for several years, and spent some time in the Detective Bureau.

In 1972 we moved to Chelsea, where I was a Village patrol officer. For several years we lived on Sugar Loaf Lake, and then moved to a 10 acre horse farm in Waterloo.

Since retiring, Ive enjoyed golfing and taking trips on my motorcycle. I also did some substitute teaching in the Marshall Community Schools. I had an opportunity to teach a third grade class for ten days, which I enjoyed. I had several shorter assignments, including two days at the juvenile home. That was especially interesting.

In August of 2000, I rode out to Sturgis, S.D. with a friend to the big bike rally. And in 2001, five friends and I rode out to Laconia, New Hampshire for another big rally. Both trips were a great experience I shall always remember.

Diane and I especially enjoy visits from our family, who we see quite often. Both Roger and Randy settled in Marshall with their families, which makes it very convenient for visits. Roger's family, wife Desiree, and children Roger III, Michael and Olivia live north of town, and Randy, wife Lynda, and children Gabrielle, Levi, and Alena live south. We, live right in the middle, so who could ask for anything more.
