Here's a non verbal protest sign, a big three dimensional dove, a simple and elegant way to make your statement. I got the idea when I saw some like this at the Anti War protest in D.C. on January 18th. Mine cost me about 80 cents, 33 cents for posterboard (my local dollar store sells the board 3 for $1.00), and then I used a 44 cent yardstick for a handle.

OK then, supply list is;
1. one standard size white posterboard, about 22" by 28"
2. yardstick
3. elmers glue
4. green and black or dark blue magic marker
5. tape, scissors, pencil

Print out the 3 pattern pieces from here
#1   #2   #3

Tape them together so it looks like this.

Cut 2 dove shapes.

DO
NOT CUT THE WING SEPARATELY.
This is all one piece.
Use the pattern for the first one. Then use the first cut out dove as your pattern for the 2nd one. Llay it down on the board & trace around it for the second pattern.

Each piece should have only one tail tab, one near the body, the other near the tail end.

Cut the olive branch out of a scrap, color it green with a magic marker. Or you could use a leaf from an artificial plant.
The blue squiggles indicate where you apply the glue. I know elmers glue is white, not blue. But if I put white squiggles on a white pattern, you couldn't see it. :~)

You will be glueing the body together, with the yardstick inside. First glue the yardstick in place. Then attach the second piece over it. Try to line up all the edges so there are no noticeable overlaps showing.

DO NOT PUT ANY GLUE ON THE WINGS
OR ON THE TAIL.

The tabs on top of the tail should be glued on the underside. That is the only glue used on the tail. It will flare out from side to side.
Glue warning ! When I made my third dove, I couldn't find my elmer's glue, so I used an off brand white glue instead. It was a mess ! The glue was thinner, ran off the edges. And the worst part was the edges of the dove body starting curling away from each other right away. I saved it by putting paper clips all around the edges to hold it together till it dried. So don't do what I did, use Elmer's.  No, I don't get a kickback :)
After the glue is dry, gently curve the wings down and away from each other by rolling the posterboard. Then curve the wingtips up a little.
Color an eye with black or dark blue. Cut a slit in the beak to insert the branch or leaf into. Use a dab of glue to make sure your dove doesn't lose her branch.
