Chapter 9 Love's Odd Plans
Once again when Blake got home he found his brother and Shi sleeping on the sofa together. He shook his head and smirked. Going to the closet and grabbed a cover and covered the two up.
He looked at them again and smirked for Shi was sleeping on Hunter's chest. They two looked very cute together. Hunter's arm was protectively over her waist. Blake could tell his brother cared for the storm caller that was sleeping on his chest.
He went to his room and grabbed his digital camera. He took a picture of the two and smiled. Disappearing back in his room he grabbed his bag and left again to go take pictures of the others.
Chantale sat cross-legged on the floor of her living room in the now very empty beach house. Shi hadn't come back and Chantale knew that she might never forgive her for what she did, of course Chantale didn't blame her.
Flipping through the photo album, Chantale stopped at a picture that had been taken a few years previous. It was when there was three of them. Chantale, Shi and Hotaru. It had been take right before the attacks. Hard to believe that all the fighting had been going on for a year now. Lothor showed no signs of growing board. She sighed running her thumbs over the photo, a single tear rolled out from the corner of Chantale's eye, and she made no move to swipe it away. Putting the photo back in, Chantale stood up and wandered into the kitchen to get something to drink. As she poured some lemonade into a glass, there was a sharp rap at the door. Placing the glass on the table she wandered over to the door.
She opened the door to reveil Shane and Cam. "Oh, Hi guys. What can I do for you?"
The boys looked at each other, then at the pink ranger. "We need you to come with us to Ninja Ops." Cam said quietly.
Chantale gave them a puzzled look. "And you couldn't have called me via morpher?" Sighing loudly, Chantale shoved her feet into a pair of pink sneakers, grabbed a sweater and set out wearing a pair of white track pants and a skimpy pink tank top.
She noticed it was late as they took Cam's car back to Ninja Ops. Inside Ops Chantale noted that Sensei, Tori, Blake and Dustin were there. Blake was showing Tori and Dustin a picture. Tori was giggling.
Dustin was holding the picture. "You realize that when they find out about your photography." Dustin smiled wryly. "They might be a bit mad."
"Well they should not be tempting me with photos." Blake sniggered. Seeing Chantale and the others return. "Cam and Shane have already seen the digital picture I took. Here." He shoved the picture in Chantale's hands.
Chantale blinked when it registered that it was Shi and Hunter sleeping and looking very cozy. "Sleeping on the sofa?" She noted that they were still fully clothed. It was a very cute picture.
"Yeah the TV was still on." Blake sighed. Blake caught Tori's look. "Ok guys here is how it goes for me." He shrugged. "Chantale I need more time. But know this. I have no problem with you. I just cannot decide if I forgive you your trespasses or what. I forgive Dustin. But he is my bud. Shi and Hunter have even forgiven him."
"Shi has forgiven Dustin." Chantale said softly. She managed a small wry smile. "That is a first."
Dustin came up and held her. "I love you. Shi understands that Chan. And plus." He tilted her chin up. "I gave your kinswoman a promise Dude." He smiled wryly at Chantale. "I promised I would take good care of you and the baby." He sighed and smiled. "I keep my word."
Chantale smiled at him. Hugging him tightly. "Thank you." She said softly.
"I think what the guys are all trying to say in their backwards male way is you still have friends Chantale." Tori looked at her buddy. "Dustin is here for you. So are myself, Shane, Cam and even Blake. He just has to be more quiet and sneaky about it."
Blake hugged Tori.
"All of you should go home now and go to bed." Sensei said softly to his students.
They nodded and bowed and left Sensei alone with his son.
Dustin took Chantale home. "Do you want me to stay?" He asked her already knowing the answer. For he had seen it in her eyes as they dove up the drive way. He knew what she would want. 'Chan is going to want me to stay. She is alone in their place. Shi is not going to return. Save to collect the last of her stuff.'
Chantale looked at him. "Please its so lonely here without Shi." Her eyes pleaded with him. She knew he would give in to her request. Plus he had given his word to her gone kinswoman. Chantale knew that meant a lot to Shi as well as to Dustin.
He nodded and they both went in and went to bed.
Tori dropped Shane off at his home. She then took Blake back to his place that he was now sharing with both his brother and Shi. They both crept in to check on the two. They were still snuggling on the sofa.
Tori had to smile for they did indeed look cute together.
Blake drew Tori out on the balcony and shut the door. "I swear Hunter is way in love with her."
Tori smiled. "He is. Your brother just is in the same boat as Shi. Both want to move slowly for they both seen what swiftness can cause." Tori sighed. "Plus I have a feeling they are bonding on really deep levels. They seem to almost communicate without words at times."
"They were made for each other." Blake looked up at the moon. "My brother deserves some happiness."
"So do you Blake." Tori pointed out.
"I have mine." He drew her into his embrace and kissed her deeply. "Stay with me. I just need to hold you."
Tori smiled. "Alright. Its not like I am expected home. The apartment is kinda lonely."
Tori and Blake exchanged smiles and walked silently by the sleeping pair. Hunter smirked and shook his head looking at Shi. "There are more comfortable places to sleep."
"Indeed." Shi said softly. "As long as its sleep."
"Just sleep." Hunter said softly not giving away to Blake nor Tori that they had heard everything. "I promise."
In the Trejo household the brothers both slept with their beloveds snuggling up to them. Both thinking that the other was very lucky to have found their other half.
Next Day, Dustin was working at Storm Chargers with Blake and Hunter. The three were finished doing all their jobs when Shi breezed in by herself. She was dressed in Storm grey skater style flare pants with crimson strips up the side. Her tank was short and crimson. She made a beeline over to the mag rack. That made Dustin smile.
The curly haired guy noted that the male population had noted the tall beauty and were earning glares from Hunter. Which was causing the younger of the thunder brothers to smirk from his spot fixing out the clothing for Kelly.
Dustin walked over to Shi and smiled. "How are you doing today?" He looked at the storm caller. She had picked up the latest issues of her favorite surfer and moto mags.
"I am doing ok. Caught a few waves this morning. Almost wiped out REAL bad. Decided to call surfing a day." Shi sighed. "I was not thinking about what I was doing which is dangerous while surfing. You can think of other things then the track when you moto but surfing." The storm caller shook her head.
Blake and Hunter looked at each other. They came over. "Shi?" Hunter looked at her. "Can I ask you something. Blake is going to ask Tori the same thing. Could you and Tori start surfing together? It would make all of us worry less."
Shi smiled. "Why didn't I think of that?"
"Used to surfing by yourself." Blake helped her out as Shi nodded. "I am going to talk to Tori about it today as well."
Shi looked at Hunter then at Blake. "Why?"
The brothers looked at each other then back at the storm caller, "Well, if either of you gets hurt, then the other can go and get help, where as if there was only say you out there, you could die if you didn't have any help." Blake said.
Shi chuckled and grabbed another magazine.
"Always were great with wording Blake. I mean ya, she "could" die, but she's not gonna." Hunter said.
Shi nodded. "It's a good idea though, and Blake's right, I'm so used to surfing by myself that I never realized that I could get hurt badly enough that I wouldn't be able to make it back to shore."
Chantale stepped out into the warm summer air with her pink bathrobe wrapped around her tiny frame and her small delicate hands holding a coffee mug. Sitting down in a deck chair, Chantale sigh and relaxed. She, little Chantale, the youngest in the Tomoe family, was going to be a mother. Placing her mug on the glass table beside her chair, Chantale placed her hands over her stomach, knowing that there was another life growing inside her. "This is amazing" she whispered to herself. "I'm going to be a mommy" Chantale said again with tears of happiness glistening in her eyes.
Dustin looked at his watch and sighed. "I am so glad to be off work." He looked over at he Thunder brothers and Shi. "I have gotta go." He smiled lightly. "Need to check up on somethings." He sighed for both Shi's and Hunter's eyes darkened but then they smiled.
"Do your best." Shi sighed. "Take good care of the something ok Dusty."
"I will." Dustin looked at Shi then at Hunter he sighed.
"Dude." Hunter spoke just before Dustin left. "Do the right thing."
"I am." Dustin said he came back quickly over to them and showed them the tiny box. Inside of it was a beautiful diamond in white gold.
"She'll love it." Shi smiled wryly. "Take good care of them Dustin. I will not be there. Save in spirit."
"I know." Dustin sighed. "Gotta run Dudes." With that Dustin was off.
Tori walked out on the patio of Chantale's beach house. she looked at her friend. "How ya feeling today?"
"Better." Chantale sighed. "You think Shi will ever forgive me?"
"I don't know. Your coz is stubborn and she is with Hunter and he is not budging an inch on his thoughts about you." Tori said softly sitting in one of the other chairs. "I don't think Hunter ever will." Tori smirked a little. "I don't think he realizes what is happening to himself."
"What do you mean?" Chantale sipped her coffee and looked at Tori.
"I think Hunter is in love with Shi. He just does not know it yet. Which would explain some of his odd behaviors." Tori smiled lightly.
"Hunter is in love with Shi." Chantale said shocked. "Oh my." Chantale giggled slightly and ran her hand through her blond hair. Sighing she looked at Tori. "How am I supposed to do this Tori? How do I be a mom?" Running her hands over her face, Chantale waited for Tori to answer.
"Um... I have no idea. I wish I did know. Maybe you can talk to my mom." Tori replied before the door slide open revealing Dustin.
"Oh, hey Tori. Didn't know you were here. I didn't see your van out front." He said.
Tori nodded. "I walked over. Long walk but I needed it. And now I'm gonna head over to Storm Chargers. Chan, call me tonight ok?" The blue wind ranger said.
Chantale nodded and smiled. "I'll talk to you later then. G'bye Tori." Chantale replied.
Tori smiled at Dustin and excused herself from the Tomoe beach house.
Dustin smiled at Chantale, who gave a weak smile back. He pulled a chair up beside her and sat on the edge of it. "What's wrong?" He asked softly.
Chantale looked at him with tears threatening to spill from her eyes. "I'm not sure if I'm ready to be a mom Dustin. I don't know if I can handle it." She replied to his question, trying to keep her voice steady.
Dustin pulled her into a hug and kissed the crown of her head. "You'll be a great mom. And I'll be right there to help you through it. I promised Shi that and I promised you that. I'm not going anywhere soon sweetie."
Chantale smiled through her tears. "I knew there was a reason I fell in love with you Dustin." She giggled.
Dustin grinned and lowered his lips to her kissing them softly. He pulled away and took her hands and kneeled on the ground. "Chantale, I was wondering.... will you..." He paused looked at he ran took a deep breath and plunged right in to what he wanted to ask her. "Will you marry me?" he looked at her his deep mocha brown eyes earnest and full of love. "I'll make sur you never regret it ever chan. I love you and I always will."
Chantale hugged him and smiled her voice quivery as she answered him. "I will." He slipped on the ring he bought her. then smiled at her.
Meanwhile in Storm Chargers, Tori comes in and spots Hunter and Shi still going though motocross mags and arguing over different things in them.
Blake came over and hugged Tori. "I swear they don't even realize it." He said softly in her ear.
"I don't think they do either." Tori giggled. "Your both off right?"
"Yes we are. Just those two started to discuss the differences in the different mags and they way they cover things."
Kelly came over and looked at Tori and Blake. "So what its the story with those two?"
Tori looked at Blake who looked back at her and nodded. "We think that they might be in love with each other." Tori told Kelly quietly.
Kelly's eyes went wide. "Your kidding me!" She exclaimed as quiet as she could.
Blake and Tori both shook their heads. "Why would be kid you about something like that?" Blake asked.
Kelly shrugged her shoulders and replied "I don't know. Hunter just seems so....so....distant, no offence Blake, but he doesn't strike me as being able to fall in love so easily." She said, hoping Blake wouldn't kill her.
Blake smiled. "But the same thing could be said for Shi. And no offence taken Kelly, I know where your coming fro-" Blake stopped what he was saying as Hunter and Shi walked by, Hunter's arm slung around her shoulders, and Shi arm snaked around his waist.
"Hey guys." Shi purred. "Catch ya later."
Blake, Tori and Kelly stood there gaping at Shi and Hunter as they left Storm Chargers. "Someone tell me I wasn't dreaming." Kelly said.
That snapped Tori and Blake out of the trance like state they were in. "Um, unless I'm wrong, those two are so close to becoming a couple." Tori said.
Blake chuckled. "Ya then the only one's left will be Shane, Cam and Kelly... Looks like you might have two guys in competition over you Kel." Blake said, nudging Kelly in the side.
She shoved him away. "Yah right guys. Anyways get outta here. I have to close up. See ya tomorrow." Kelly said while practically shoving Tori and Blake out of the store and closing the door behind them.
"Um, I think she was in a little bit of a hurry to get rid of us." Tori said, snagging her hand through Blake's and wandering towards her van.
Blake nodded. "She was just a little too eager." They both shrugged and climbed into her van and set off towards Tori's apartment
Tori looked at Blake as they walked into her apartment. "Your brother is going to drive me nuts."
Blake laughed. "Your not the only one. I swear he is here to drive us all crazy."
"Most likely he is your bro..the tall dark and broody one." Tori shook her head and grabbed drinks. Her and Blake sat on her sofa. "They just kinda fell into it. Though they are going about things a bit slow."
Blake nodded recalling the fast courtship of Dustin and Chantale. There was a knock on the door and Tori answered it to find it was Dustin and Chantale.
Chantale smiled at her friend. "Can we come in?"
"Of course." Tori let them in.
Blake waved at the two as Tori got extra drinks. Handing them to her friends. "We were just talking about Hunter and Shi." Tori said softly. "You would not believe those two."
Chantale giggled. "Ok. So what did they do?" She asked, wanting to know the situation between her cousin and the crimson ranger.
Tori smiled then said. "Well looks as if all suspicions are true. Hunter and Shi are falling in love with each other."
Chantale's eyes went huge and she spit out her drink, which ended up all over Blake. "Sorry Blake..." Chantale said trying not to laugh.
It didn't stop Tori who burst out into a fit of giggles, and Dustin who was holding his sides laughing. Blake glared at all three of them before walking into the kitchen to clean his pants off.
Tori smiled at Dustin and Chantale. "Ok. So how come you guys are here? Like I know you can come over without a reason but...." Tori asked, wanting to know.
Chantale smiled grew wider, before she looked over to the kitchen and yelled. "Hey Blake get back in here!"
Blake groaned and marched back in, pop all over the front of his pants, making it look like he didn't make it to the bathroom in time. Everyone laughed again. Blake grabbed a blanket and sat on the couch with it over him and Tori.
"Dustin and I have some big news...." Chantale started.
"Hold that thought." Feeling sorry for her boyfriend. tori got up and brought back a bag. "I was going to give theses too you later but I think you need them now." Hands him a navy gift bag.
Blake looks at her oddly and opens it up and lets out a whoop and disappears off toward Tori's bathroom.
Tori smiles and Chantale giggles. "What you get him. New pants?"
"Yeah I did. Shi saw them and showed them to me." Tori grinned as Blake walked back out gifting her with a kiss. They were navy blue leather pants they went well with his silk shirt of the same color.
Tori smiled and sighed.
Chantale giggled. "Too hot for you now." Her eyes glittered. She then showed Tori her ring and Tori squealed.
Blake covered his ears "Ok. So now that I'm deaf. Congratulations Chantale, you too Dustin, buddy. Never knew ya would have done it." Blake winked at him and Dustin grinned his trademark cheesy grin and squeezed Chantale's hand.
Tori continued to smile big. "Aw Chan I'm so happy for you. Have you set a date yet?"
Dustin and Chantale looked at each other. "No we haven't we thought we might discuss it with everyone that would be attending, to see what day would work for them." Chantale replied.
Tori smiled. "Blake and I are great with any day, doesn't matter to us. Who else are you thinking of inviting?"
Chantale began to count people off on her fingers. "Um, you, Blake, Shane, Cam, Kelly and Sensei" Chantale replied to Tori's question. She knew better than to ask. Shi and Hunter might be in attendance, but it was better just to tell them instead of giving them an actual invitation.
Tori nodded. "OK. So when are you thinking of having it?" Blake asked. Chantale looked and him and said "I'm personally thinking in August maybe."
Meanwhile at the go-karts Shi and Hunter raced around the track. Shi had managed to get ahead of Hunter and was working it quite a bit.. Soon their time was up and they crawled out of their karts. Both of them laughing.
Neither of them realized at they were being observed.
Marah and Kapri stood there watching Hunter and Shi. Kapri was seething with jealousy. for the older of the two sisters could see the bond forming between the pair. Though they were not showing at that moment their bonding, though Hunter and grabbed a hold of Shi and hugged her which caused the muscle in Kapri's eye to twitch.
"This is enough. I have seen enough." Kapri growled. "He is going to be mine not hers."
"But Kapri." Marah said softly. "I don't think he ever was yours."
"Shut up!" Kapri ordered. "Or else." She glared at her sister. Kapri smirked evilly at her sibling. She had already planed on a way to get rid of Marah so that way she have no one to compete with for her Uncle's attention.
She had decided on her plan of action now. Marah would never know what hit her and the crimson thunder ranger would be hers as well. Plus it would so raise her in her uncle's eye.
She touched the back of her sisters head and Marah fell down knocked out. Smirking she stole Marah's powers and broke her alien seeming. Now Marah was nothing but an average ditzy girl.
Farther down the board walk Shi and Hunter walked holding hands at that time. Shane came out of the arcade and blinked as they breezed past him. He blinked and frowned. "Man when that happen?' He picked up his cell and called Tori.
Tori's telephone rang and she walked over to answer it. "Hello? Hanson residence" Tori said into the receiver of the phone and then proceeded to shove the phone away from her ear listening to Shane screaming at the top of his lungs.
"Shane...SHANE CLAKE WILL YOU STOP YELLING!" Tori screamed into the phone matching, if not exceeding the decibel level Shane had reached. But it stoped the screaming instantly and there was a small but audible "Sorry" from Shane'e side. Tori giggled and began talking to him with the first words out of her mouth being "Oh we already knew that." And that started the yelling again.
Blake sighed. and unplugged Tori's phone. "Voice mail, plus he was being rude."
Tori giggled. "Yeah but that was rude."
"Anyway I could make it up?" Blake asked in his sweet sexy voice that made Chantale smile and nudge Dustin they both got up and left the two lovers to themselves.
Dustin sighed. "They are always like that." He quirked a half smile. "I swear."
Chantale giggled, then sobered up. "Should we invite Hunter and Shi?"
"Yes Chan we should. Proper protocol is paper invites." Dustin gently reminded her.
Shane looked at his phone and sighed. "Blake was there. That would explain the silencing of the phone." He grumbled and made his way away from the direction if hunter and Shi. He frowned at what he saw ahead of him.
There was a girl laying on the ground and she appeared to be alive yet unmoving. Shane pushed over and checked her pulse. This young woman looked familer to him. he could not place who she was.
Kapri waited till Shi and Hunter were walking along a lonely beach before she called the kalzacks to attack the two.
