Storm's Fury
By
Ragemoon
And
Koaran Date
Tori stood looking out in to the sea. She could not get over how angry the weather was being. She had a feeling it was emotion driven. For the very air crackled with anger and fury.
The sea pounded against the sand in showing its fury. Tori could not recall when she had seen the great ocean so angry. She could feel its anger and she knew its source.
Blake joined her in a few moments later. Tori asked him worry in her voice. "Have Hunter and Dustin found Shi yet?"
"No and Hunter and Dustin are quiet worried." Blake said drawing her near him. "Look at this storm. I have never seen the sea so angry."
"I think Shi's fury is driving the storm." Tori said quietly and thunder rumbled and lighting streaked across the sky. Making the two young lovers wince. "I understand her anger."
"So do I." Blake sighed. "I think I might have a little better understanding though." He hugged her to him. "It is hard being adopted and it is hard not being adopted."
"How many times was Shi and her sister adopted?" Tori asked softly.
"I don't know?" Drawing her with him, they went back to Ninja Ops.
"Aniterra?' Tori said as the pair walked up to the entrance. "Cam?"
"Look at the storm, its building." Aniterra said softly. "I can feel the anger in it." Looking at Tori. "Shi is doing this?"
"We think so." Tori sighed. Looking at Cam. "Your father better stay indoors. I don't think its safe out there for him right now."
"We told him that." Cam said smiling wryly. Looking up at the sky. "Stray lightning bolts are not good no matter what."
"I don't understand why Shi would be so furious." Aniterra said softly. She winced at a poetically loud crash of thunder.
"You might say." Blake spoke softly watching the raging storm, "Shi knows how you feel. Our Stormy friend has been adopted and lost her adopted parents in the span of a few years. Then gone though foster care."
Aniterra sighed. "Oh boy. I guess Shi would understand."
"You might say three of us share your pain." Blake said softly as a loud crack of thunder rolled across the land. Just then lightning lighted up the darkened world outside. It now was raining. Hard cold rain that made Cam blink with surprise.
Dustin sighed, wiping the rain that was now falling from the sky out of his face. "Dammit Hunter. Why is Shi hiding from us, Dude?"
"I don't know." Hunter confessed as they looked for their other third. "She is in such pain."
"I know." Dustin said grimly. "I so wanna wring Sensei's neck."
"I agree." Hunter growled.
Meanwhile in a sea cave, Shi worked her anger out by shadow sparing. She flashed with lighting. She was silent in her rage. Her fury reflected by the storm raging outside. The dark haired girl had done with crying over sharing pain with Aniterra.
For the storm caller knew what it was like to live in limbo. She might have had Hotaru for the longest time. But there was always that threat that they would be separated. They were almost separated several times.
Shi slammed her fist in the specially created polls. She shattered it with her blow. She watched in a detached fashion as the poll came back together, only to be shattered once more.
Lightning flashed outside the cave and thunder rolled proclaiming her anger.
Sensei stood with the others at the mouth of Ninja Ops. He watched the lighting play across the sky. He was greatly worried. Three of his students were out in this storm.
Rekka sighed and leaned in Shane's arms. "I hope her temper blows over soon."
"Your not the only one." Sensei sighed. "Such anger and rage."
Shi had come out of her sea cave and was wandering up the beach when she felt two presences. Turning she spotted Hunter and Dustin. She realized a bit late that they were running toward her.
Shi found herself tackled to the ground by her two lovers. "Oof."
They pinned her, brown and blue eyes taking in stormy grey eyes. "You need to calm Storm." Hunter asked with a bit of command in his voice.
"Why?" She growled at them.
Dustin allowed Hunter to gather their lover in his arms. Touching her face they all walked up to Shi's beach house.
"I understand your rage Shi." Hunter said cradling her body to his. "You need to let go. You're going to hurt others if you don't."
Dustin turned on the TV to the weather channel and it showed the devastation caused by the storm. The weather peoples surprise was evident for they did not know the storm was coming. Shi swallowed suddenly, realizing what she was doing.
The dark haired storm caller buried her face in Hunter's chest and started crying again.
Dustin watched as the storm calmed outside. The lightning and thunder stopped rolling. The sky lightened, but the rain still fell, reflecting the pain that was held in the storm maker's heart.
Hunter and Dustin both sighed. Sandwiching Shi between them, they tried to help her though her renewed grief. Leaning her head onto Dustin' s shoulder, she cried till her eyes ran dry from all of her tears being cried out. Sighing heavily, Shi drifted off to sleep in her two beloved's arms.
Later that afternoon within Ninja ops, Shane sat very close to where Hunter, Shi, and Dustin were sitting, watching them with a sad smile as seeing those three together was bringing back memories of Kanaiya being happy with Hunter.
Small memories of just before the damn triad developed, ripping apart Kanaiya's very spirit to where she sacrificed her own life. He had sensed her regret of having to leave him and their friends behind. Her pain had been one of the reasons that she didn't fight for her life against death.
She could've survived if there had been no triad's formation. She just couldn't handle seeing her ex be with her former best friend and her brother's best friend.
"It was too much for her to bear. She couldn't handle it. It hurt her too deeply to watch the man she cared for turn to those other two." Shane verbally said. Hunter turned and looked at him.
"What was that?" Hunter asked. He wanted to know if Shane was starting to blame him for the death of Kanaiya.
"I said that it was too much for Kana to bear. She couldn't handle seeing you three be with each other constantly. It hurt her too deeply. That's why she gave into death willingly. She did it just to ease her pain to where she didn't have to deal with you three." Shane nearly yelled.
Seeing Shi crying reminded him of the day when he had seen his sister lying in bed, crying after she figured out that there was an unbreakable bond between Dustin, Hunter, and Shi. Which served only to make his pain and sadness and his missing of his precious baby sister even worse.
Shi took one look at Shane and instead of reacting the way Shane had planned on her reacting. Shi spoke softly "Sumimasen." The storm caller fled once more, causing a new storm to erupt over Blue Bay Harbor.
Shi's pain cut straight through both Dustin and Hunter like a hot knife. Before they could react Aniterra and cam walked in. Well Cam walked, Aniterra stormed in.
Her eyes caught Shane's, the red ranger was surprised by the fury he saw there.
Smack.
Shane felt his teeth rattle. "You bastard. You know how long it took me to talk her into being in the same room with you." Aniterra glared at Shane. "Has Shi been eating?" She asked the other two.
"We cannot make her eat." Dustin confessed. "She stares at her food and gets up and wanders away." The pain in Dustin's voice was great.
Hunter glared at Shane. "Come on Dustin, let's go find Shi. We don't need to loose her either when I for one don't wish to die." Looking at Shane. "Did not take that in to consideration did you." Hunter's voice was like ice. "If Shi dies. We will either die or go mad. I hope that makes you happy. Probably does please that sick side of you that wants us all to suffer for Kanaiya. Well we suffer, everyday. Enjoy our pain, Shane, for I know you do."
Dustin and Hunter left to go after Shi. They found her sobbing on Tori. The blonde haired surfer girl had caught her dark stormy friend before she could leave. "You need to eat girl." Tori said concern in her voice. As she rubbed Shi's back trying to calm her.
"I don't deserve to live. Everything I touch dies." Shi sobbed. "When will Dustin and Hunter be taken from me Tori? When will you and Blake and Cam and Ani be taken away too?" Shi's shoulders wracked with sobs.
Shane had hurt her by pinning his sister's death on Hunter, Dustin, and herself. She knew that he didn't mean it. It was just that his mind couldn't focus and because of losing Kanaiya, he had lost his mother, which made him the last person of his family line.
"Shi?" Dustin asked. Tori looked up only to see Dustin and Hunter staring at her with concern carved into their faces. "Are you alright? I mean, Shane was pretty rude to you there. Well, at least to you and Hunter. He really didn't mean it. It's been a month exactly since her death and today's day and date is the exact same as last month. Today, as of one month ago, makes it the one month anniversary of Kanaiya's death..." As he stumbled though his words knowing suddenly he was only making things worse.
Hunter cut him off. "How can you say that, Dustin? He was trying to pin us for being the cause of her death!" Hunter yelled. He couldn't believe Dustin's current attitude. Thinking to himself, 'is he really that stupid? Shane was still angry at us for this triad's development. Like we had a choice. Dammit you two tried to keep me out but you had no choice in gaining me as well.' He glared at his lover.
"Because it's true. Shane is not, and never will be, over Kanaiya's death. Hunter, he's in the same boat that you and Blake are. Well, maybe in the boat that's just a little lower than you..." Dustin continued on knowing he was only making it worse but he had to get the words out of himself so he could figure then out himself.
Dustin missed the pain in Shi's eyes with his careless words. For Dustin was wrong, someone else shared Shane's pain. Shi shared it more then they all realized. For like Shane, Shi was alone in the world. The storm caller was the last of her own line.
That's when Blake cut him off. Hunter had noticed him approach them with full concern on his face. Rekka and Aniterra had also shown up to console the temperamental triad. "What do you mean by 'maybe in the boat that's just a little lower than us, Dustin?" Blake asked.
Tori and Shi were watching the exchange.
Hunter was glaring at Dustin, who returned the glare twice as strong than what Hunter was.
"Unlike you and Hunter for you two still have each other, Shane has no one. Not his father, and his mother committed suicide upon hearing the news, that Kanaiya had been killed, come out of Shane's mouth. So that's why I am not being cruel to him, like you are, Hunter. If you would've kept your mouth shut, then Shane wouldn't be trying to commit suicide right now." Dustin yelled as he turn and ran back into Ninja Ops, only to see Cam holding Shane's wrist from coming down to his gut.
Hunter, Blake, Shi, and Tori came in as well, only to see the same scene Dustin was watching. There was a shocked silence from the others. It was painful to watch.
Hunter looked at Shane's hands and saw the dagger that was there.
"Let me go through with it, Cam. It's not fair to Kanaiya that I am still alive, while she is dead!" Shane begged and screamed. His grief-stricken mind had become suicidal.
Cam managed to turn his head to see the others standing there, staring at the scene. "I could use a little bit of help. Someone get his dagger out of his hands." Dustin moved quickly with Hunter and grabbed Shane's hands and managed to pry the dagger out of them.
"Now, it's going to take all of us to restrain him. So you other 4, get over here and help." Cam ordered taking charge of the situation for he noted the numb looks from the others. 'We are all stressing out too much.' Cam thought to himself. 'I swear the stress will do us all in before Lothor will.' He watched, as the rest obliged him.
Five minutes later, Shane lay on the floor, struggling with the bonds that held his arms wrapped and tied around his body, behind his back. His mouth was gagged to where he couldn't speak.
Hunter, Shi, and Blake just looked at him as his head was down. Shi's face was an unreadable mask. But Hunter could feel the cold pain within his beloved. Her endless pain and guilt frightened him a bit. He shielded Dustin from truly realizing the pain Shi was in. He realized that had been a mistake.
Deep in Shane's mind, he was slowly going insane with grief. He couldn't believe that they wouldn't let him take his own life. Tears were leaking down his face as he thought about his little sister's tragic death. Snapping out of his daze, he felt a paw press against his forehead. Looking up slightly, he saw Sensei with his eyes closed. That's when he felt something trying to enter his mind. As he slammed his mental ninja shields into place, he imagined a blast attacking the intruder and blasted them out of his mind.
Sensei's eyes jerked open as he realized that Shane had used something he wouldn't have learned until he was a fifth year. Looking at Shane's face he pressed his paw against his forehead once more and put Shane to sleep.
Shane tried to resist, but after a minute, his shields collapsed and he fell asleep. Turning to face the rest of the students, he spoke, "Shane is apparently farther along in his training than what I had thought. He wouldn't let me find out how strong his grief was." Sensei was still somewhat shocked. Shane was really getting better with his resisting abilities of that of the ninja.
"What are you saying, dad?" Cam asked. If Shane was farther along, it would mean his dad would have to pay just a little more attention to him and help him master the new portions of his training. Sensei looked at his son.
"He was able to push me out of his mind and put up the mental shields of an air ninja. As well as the fact that he was able to resist, just a few minutes longer, the effect of the sleep trance that I put on him." Sensei replied. He turned and looked at the unconscious Shane who was lying on the floor. "I will not take advantage of finding out anything while he is unconscious. Now all of you must begin your meditations."
All of the rangers obliged.
With in Shane's mind two figures appeared. One was Kanaiya and one he did not know. She had short black hair and was very tiny compared to his sister. "Kanaiya?"
"You idiot." Kanaiya glared at him. "You realize Shi has NO ONE as well. I brought some one with me I want you to meet." Shane was shocked with the anger in his dead siblings voice. Motioning to the smaller young woman next to her. "This is Shi's passed over sibling, Hotaru."
"Hello Shane. Thank you for making my sister's life hell once more." Hotaru spoke softly no malice in her voice. The short dark haired girl sighed looking at him. "You realize that Shi is dying. Slowly and with her so are Dustin and Hunter." Looking at him. "You realize you need them to defeat Lothor?"
"What?" Shane said shocked.
"Our deaths were supposed to make people stronger." Hotaru said wryly. "I have had a long talk with Fate about that. She is not to happy with me now."
"Considering what you said." Kanaiya said smirking.
Hotaru smiled. "Fix your mess up Shane. You're not the only one in pain. Your entire team hurts. Shi is in as much pain as you. Her losses are as great, mayhap a little greater then yours."
Meanwhile, Shi was spirit walking away. She had wandered much farther then she should have. But with the pain in her soul she did not care. Her body's breathing became more shallow, slowing down.
Hunter came in the room Shi was meditating in and realized something was wrong. He could not sense her spirit in her body. "Shi?" He touched her and realized, much to his horror, that Shi was gone. Her body was still alive, but the vibrant spirit that was held within the body, was gone.
Hunter felt hot tears roll silently down his face. He layed her down and sat cross legged and looked at her. He could feel her willing death to take her. Tears continued to roll down his face. "No. Please gods I could not take another death."
Dustin came in and heard what Hunter said. "What?" He then wandered over to look at Shi and it hit him as well. He numbly walked to the other side. Dropping to his knees. "No Shi, you cannot leave us. You simply cannot." Tears ran down the curly haired boy's face. For much like Hunter he felt Shi willing death to take her.
In Shane's mind, "Oh sweet Goddess." Hotaru looked at the two siblings. "Shi has wandered away from her body. She is begging Death to take her."
"No." Kanaiya said softly. "We have to find her. Shane, you're helping us." With that, Kanaiya and Hotaru turned and ran away trying to get to Shi. Shane decided that he better follow them since his sister said that he had to help them.
Back in the outside world...
Shane was convulsing like crazy. His body was shaking severely. Sensei just watched, knowing that he couldn't do anything to help Shane. He was greatly worried for he could see and sense what was going on.
Cam, Dustin, Blake, Tori, Rekka came in with Hunter carrying Shi's unconscious body and laid her on the other side of the room. Cam rushed over to Shane's shaking body and checked for his pulse.
"His pulse is going crazy. What's happening to them?" Cam asked his father worriedly.
Sensei shook his head. Unable to form words to what was happening about them.
"Shi is begging death to take her away from this realm." Blake interrupted before Sensei could say anything. There was an anger and sadness in his voice. "She feels if she goes Shane will finally be happy." There was anger and sadness for he could feel the pain from both Shane and Shi. "But that doesn't explain Shane's convulsing, Sensei." He spoke harshly. His voice signaled everyone's worry. Hell, even Hunter was worried.
Hunter touched Shi's hand. "You cannot leave us. We need you. We need your strength. We need Shane as well. Come on home Arashi." Hunter begged softly so no one save Dustin heard him.
Dustin looked at his two beloveds; his heart was so torn into three parts. Silent tears ran down his face.
Tori found Blake hugging her. She felt like he needed to hold her to make sure she was real just to keep himself sane in this spiraling out of control situation.
"Shane's spirit has followed Kanaiya and Shi's sister's spirits to find Shi before any damage could be done. They are currently looking for her." Sensei informed them with his eyes closed. He was monitoring what was going on and informing his students.
Rekka went over to Shane's other side. Grabbing his hand. "Dammit you better come back. So I can kick your ass for being stubborn." Tears clogged Rekka's voice. "And you and Shi need to talk. So you better come back."
Back in Shane's mind...
It had been a few minutes and Kanaiya could tell they were getting close to her. Shane could see her and ran in front of Hotaru and Kanaiya. Quickly grabbing her spirit he pulled her back from the barrier that separated life from death and spun her around to face him. Shi started to struggle in his grasp.
"Don't even think about it Shi. You trying to die is hurting Hunter and Dustin. So don't even bother." Shane's stern voice reached her ears and she quit struggling. Looking up, she saw his face, which had concern written on it.
"Shane? What are you doing here?" Shi asked, her voice little more than a whisper. She hadn't thought that he would come after her at all. So it was somewhat astonishing to her. "You hate me Shane. Why stop your problem from going away?"
Shane closed his eyes for she had gotten him good with that comment. For how long had he been wishing death on the tall girl gazing at him? 'Too long.' He thought to himself. Then spoke out loud. "Dustin and Hunter need you, dammit Shi."
"I know they need me. I just don't have the will to live when I can feel your hatred and you willing me to death's embrace." Shi's voice was still whisper soft. Her soft grey eyes were filled with more pain then Shane had ever seen. "Let me show you what I have been though Shane." Pausing looking at him. "Then we will go back. You will not actively or inactively seek death and neither will I."
Shane nodded and drew Shi away from the barrier and to where their siblings were standing.
Shi nodded to both Hotaru and Kanaiya. She then touched the sides of Shane's face. Shane blinked seeing the deaths of all Shi's fellow students, her sister, and her sensei. The fact that she had to take their bodies down from spikes was just gruesome. He watched as Shi buried all of them. Twenty different bodies being buried in twenty seperate graves. He heard her speak the words and their names as she buried them. He saw her tears. He felt her pain. A pain that had never truly went away.
"Shi do the others know this?" Shane said in shock. He blinked and looked at his sister and Hotaru.
Hotaru sighed. "Hunter and Dustin might. Though I don't think they understand what they saw. You understand. Time for you both to go back."
"Bye bro. Live and be nice to everyone. Shi you have my permission to kick his ass." Kanaiya said smirking.
Shane sat up suddenly looking over to where Shi stirred. Shi did not move as quickly as he had. Instead her eyes opened and she flipped over.
Hunter picked her up before she could curl up and hugged her to him. "Welcome back, Arashi." He whispered to her.
"Kaminari sumimasen." Shi spoke softly, hugging him to her. "Chikyuu sumimasen." Her voice was weak from all the pain she held inside of her.
Cam just smirked for he recognized the Japanese words when Shi used them on her beloveds. He shook his head catching Aniterra's eyes. He knew that the crew was going to need a lot of healing.
Cam sighed. 'I just hope we can heal. Or Lothor will win if we don't get it together.' He thought and sighed deeply again. This whole entire situation was giving him a headache with all of the twists and turns that it was taking.
Aniterra watched as Cam went back to his bedroom and followed him while the others dealt with a fully temperamental Hunter, depressed Shi, and grief-stricken, possibly, still suicidal Shane. She walked into Cam's room and sat down beside him on his bed.
Looking up, Cam smiled softly and drew her into his arms as he went to lie down once more. Snuggling closer to his body, Aniterra soon fell into a deep slumber, with Cam falling the same way a few minutes later.
Shane looked at Shi as both Hunter and Dustin were holding her. He instantly felt guilty for saying all that he did to hurt her. It wasn't their fault that Kana died at all. It wasn't anybody's fault. 'In a way, I am really glad Kana did show up. If not, I bet I would be dead right now from suicide. So would Shi. Speaking of Shi, I need to make amends with her, Hunter, and Dustin.' Shane thought.
Hey Shi. I'm really sorry for what I said to you earlier when it came to trying to pin Kana's death on you three. I didn't mean it at all. I was so grief stricken that I couldn't think straight. I know there may not be any forgiveness from you three when it comes to me. But that doesn't matter. As long as we can still fight as a team, we'll be alright. I hope. Shane spoke. He hoped that the triad would accept his apology.
Shi looked at Hunter, then to Shane and decided to leave Hunter's arms. Crawling over to Shane, she said three words that made all of them feel better. I forgive you.
