She Didn't Want to Stay
She peers into the shattered mirror
at a face she no longer knows.
Her heart slipped from her grasp,
and persued another soul.
She stares at her hands, shaking under the flourescent lighting,
then peers back to the glass.
Her father's blade catches her glance;
her thoughts will never pass.
She holds it in her palm
wanting everything to end.
Her courage finally gathers all;
it's over-she never felt the pain.
As she waits her judgement final
she prays 'now I lay me down to sleep'
Over and over she repeats her adieu
as the venom rushes deep,
and finally takes it's toll.
