| 1 16-oz package pinto beans 1 TBSP vinegar 1 TBSP salt 1 TBSP sugar Optional 3 slices uncooked bacon or 1-Cup-size block fatback |
| This recipe is a little salty. If you are unable to eat salt (or large amounts of saltiness), then omit salt and bacon. |
| Separate out bad beans and pebbles from bag. Rinse beans thoroughly. Add ingredients to beans in pot filled with water. Cook in bean pot or slow cooker on High for 3 to 4 hrs. or low for 5 to 6 hrs., stirring occasionally. |
| For a change of flavor add 2 whole bay leaves instead of bacon/fatback |
